Package B23-25 October2020

If you’re seeking white sand, spectacular diving and surf, bubbling hot springs, majestic waterfalls and hidden tradi-tional villages – then Lesser Sundas or Nusa Tenggara is your wonderland. Spreading west from Bali to the Wallace Line dividing Asia from Australasia, this archipelago is jungle-green in the north and tending to drier savannah in the south and east. In between are limitless surf breaks and barrels, technicolor volcanic lakes, pink-sand beaches, swaggering dragons and underwater worlds filled with colour and creatures. The Sunda Islands are part of a volcanic arc, the Sunda Arc. This arc is formed by subduction along the Java Trench in the Java Sea. All the Islands are part of Indonesia except East Timor, which occupy the eastern half of the Island of Timor.

Our tour will cover the western half of the Lesser Sunda Islands. We will spend 2 nights in Lombok, the eastern neigbour of Bali with beguiling beaches, then we will fly to Labuan Bajo on Flores where we shall begin our 3 days 2 nights cruise voyage in the Komodo National Park on a liveaboard Phinisi boat. We will island hop to the various islands in the Marine Park but the star attraction is the Komodo Dragon, the biggest lizard in the world, and we will swim with Manta Rays and walk the sands of the Pink Beach.

2 Packages are offered to participants in consideration of time or budget constraints. Package A is a 5 days 4 nights package that includes Lombok whilst Package B is a 3 days 2 nights package sans Lombok. Both packages include a 3 days 2 nights cruise in the Komodo National Park on a deluxe Indonesian Phinisi Schooner.

Sea Safari VII

Programme (Package A)

23 Oct (Day 1) Bali to Lombok (L,D)

Pick up from hotel and transfer to ferry harbour by fast boat (1hr), then head to Lombok by Fast Boat (1.5hr). Upon arrival we will head to Sasak Village, the oldest village in Lombok with indig-enous people selling souvenirs. After lunch, proceed to Banyu-mulek Pottery Village and explore traditional craft-making and iconic clay artworks. In the late afternoon, we will check into the Holiday Inn Senggigi and refresh, later transfer to local restaurant for dinner.

24 Oct (Day 2) Lombok Tour (B,L,D)

Following breakfast, proceed to Sendang Gile Waterfall, a beautiful waterfall in the North of Lombok where you can take a swim. After lunch we will visit Kuta Beach, Lombok. The beach offers astonishing white sand, fantastic sunset scenery, and a great wave for those who love surfing. For an additional charge, the local boatman can take you out for a ride.

LOMBOK - Located just east of Bali, Lombok in many ways lives up to or exceeds the promo-tional term, “an unspoiled Bali”. With beautiful and divine beaches, enchanting waterfalls, the large looming volcano of Mount Rinjani com-bined with relatively few tourists, Lombok is in-deed the paradisiacal tropical island that many people still mistakenly imagine Bali to be now.

Here you can also visit the traditional villages and join the locals of Sasak tribe to experience their daily life in the weaving village of Sade and Rambitan. You may learn a thing or two from the wonderful women with meticulous weaving skills that produces fine quality textiles.

Lombok and Bali are separated by the Lombok Strait. It is also part of the bio-geographical boundary between the fauna of Indo-Malaysia and the distinctly different fauna of Australasia. At 3,726 meters high, active Mount Rin-

jani (right) is the second highest volca-no in Indonesia, second only to Mount Kerinci on Sumatra, and it dominates the landscape of the relatively small is-land of Lombok and can be seen from Bali. Within its huge 50 km² caldera sits the crater lake, known as Segara Anak or Anak Laut (Child of the Sea), due to the color of its water, as blue as the sea (laut). The last eruption of the volcano oc-curred in 2010.

Climbers can participate in 3 day treks up to the summit, where an astounding view awaits them. The Rinjani trek is considered one of the best in South East Asia.

The Phinisi Schooner: Icon of Indonesia’s Seafaring Tradition

Since earliest times of human settlement in the Indonesian archipelago, her seas have been natural lanes of migration, communication and commerce. Not surprisingly, therefore, that up to this day the islands have inherited perhaps some of the most sophisticated maritime traditions in the world. Here, one can still watch traditional ships sailing across the open seas to catch fish or transport goods. One of these ships stands out as a legendary icon of the seafaring culture in Indonesia: The majestic Pinisi Schooner. The Sea Safari VII Phinisi is a modern adaption of the traditional Phinisi with 14 twin bedded rooms, each with a private ensuite bathroom. There is a spacious lounge and a large open deck with loungers.
