    CLIMATE CHANGE AND OTHER THREATS

As climate change continues to warm the planet, tigers are feeling the heat.

As we see ocean levels rise, tigers are losing

habitat due to costal erosion in areas like India'sSundarssban islands.

As rising sea levels claim more habitat and seawater moves up river, naturally fresh water isbecoming more saline, or more highly concentratedwith salt. These factors are forcing the tigers tomove northward towards areas more heavilypopulated by humans and increasing the likelihoodof animal/human conflicts

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR TIGERS?

Wild tiger numbers are at their lowest level ever.

If no action is taken, tiger experts believe wild tigers may disappearaltogether by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.

But tigers can recover, and quickly as long as they, their prey, and theirforest home are properly protected.

WHY SHOULD WE SAVE TIGERS?(1) The tiger awes you= The big cat is revered,

admired and feared in equal parts, by millions ofpeople around the world. If forests are emptied,

of every last tiger all that will remain are distant

legends, zoo sightings, and one massive breach of

    trust.

    (2) A home for tigers - a home for others=To save tigers, we need to protect the forest

habitats across Asia where they live. And bysaving these places, we will not only allow tigers

to roam freely, but also many other endangered

species that live there and form the very thing

that makes our planet unique biodiversity.

    (3) Healthy tiger populations - healthy ecosystems=As

large predator, the tiger plays a key role

in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Theseecosystems supply both nature and people

with fresh water, food, and many other

vital services which means by saving the

tiger, we are helping people too.

(4.) Tigers are a lifeline for many people=

Tigers can directly help some of the worldspoorest communities. For one thing, where

tigers exist, tourists go. And where tourists

go, money can be made by communities with

few alternatives for making a living.

(5.) The tiger is a survivor =The tiger hasevolved over thousands of years. Now this big cat is being trapped,

skinned, and pushed out of its home. And yet it clings to survival, barely,in a few patches of forest scatteredacross Asia. That's enough of areason to give this species a fightingChance to make it into the nextdecade.

    Will you help tigers survive?

    3. ) So when you're out shopping, look for: Certified paper and woodproducts =

Products made from certified sustainable palm oil. If you can't find any, ask your supermarket or shop why they are

not stocking any , and not helping tigers, and many other animals, tosurvive.
