Use pages 139 and 141 in chemistry for you and the internet to complete the following slides.

When you have completed all the tasks, save your work and you could print a copy for your notes and stick in

your pink book.

I have left the design blank so you can make it your own! Be creative!

Define the term fossil fuel using the information in the book and find a picture online which you think sums up what a fossil fuel is.

Fossil fuels are fuels that have been created naturally, so basically there are gasses. Some fuels are called Coal, Crude Oil, and Natural Gas.

Define the term Renewable Energy using the information in the book and find a picture online which you think sums up what a Renewable Energy is.

Renewable Energy are energy that could be renewed. It comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat.

Fossil Fuels would be considered non-renewable because it would take many million of years to create. It

also burns up the fossil fuel leaving nothing behind.

EXPLAIN WHY FOSSIL FUELS ARE NON-RENEWABLE

Crude oil was originally made from plants and sea creatures that have died many million years ago.

WHAT WAS CRUDE OIL ORIGINALLY MADE FROM?

Page 10: 9E Class work Wednesday 19 th September. Use pages 139 and 141 in chemistry for you and the internet to complete the following slides. When you have completed

Crude oil is formed by dead sea creatures that took years to be formed. It’s considered non-renewable because it takes a many million years to form. As the sea creatures die they fall to the bottom of the sea and get covered by mud. As the temperature and pressure increase change and become crude oil by mixing with more mud.

HOW WAS CRUDE OIL FORMED?(YOU MIGHT NEED MORE THAN ONE SLIDE FOR THIS

ONE!)
