DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY RECEIVED A HIGHLY

COMMENDED DISTINCTION in the 2016 Global Universities

Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES) Green

Gown Awards, the only Philippine university to receive this award

among finalists from Asia and the Pacific.

The GUPES Green Gown Awards recognize environmental

The Awards provide the sector with benchmarks for excellence

and are respected by government, funding councils, senior

management, academics, and students. The GUPES Green

Gown Awards are supported by the United Nations Environment

Programme (UNEP).

The winners were announced at the Awards Ceremony at

the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, USA.

Universities from five global regions competed to become the

inaugural GUPES Green Gown Awards winners.

DLSU’s entry, “Local Fishers Protecting Nemo and Friends: An

Effort in Coastal Resource Management of Talim Bay,” highlights

the Center for Social Concern and Action’s consultative process

with the local fisherfolk and their families, as well as underscores

the advantages of protecting and conserving their natural

resource base.
