Leader Training to Begin

The first Leader Training class of the

year will be on Thursday, August 29 at

12 noon. The class will be on Basic

Home Improvement. For more infor-

mation see page 3.

Homemaker Club Meetings

Regular Homemaker Club meetings will

resume in September. Club leaders,

please contact the office if there will be

a change with meeting times, dates and

locations. The Not Your Mama’s Home-

maker Club will hold their first meeting

on Thursday, September 19th at 6p.m.

at the Estill County Extension Office.

Kentucky State Fair

The Kentucky State Fair will be August

15th—25th in Louisville. Our local 4-H

Youth will be sending 89 exhibit items

which won at our county fair and will

be going on to compete at the state

level. Some of those items include bar-

rel heads and spring wreaths which

were made during FCS and Homemaker

Programs.

Cultural Arts Fair

We had a few entries in this years’ cul-

tural arts fair and would like to thank

those who participated. Congratula-

tions to Janet Dixon and Megan Parker.

Both Homemaker members have items

which will be moving on to compete at

the area contest on October 25th.

Homemaker Area Meeting

The Homemaker Area Meeting will be

Friday, October 25th at the Fayette

County Extension Office. Mark your

calendars.

Bluegrass Fall & Craft Festival

The Bluegrass Area Extension Home-

makers Fall Craft Festival will take place

Friday, November 8th and Saturday,

November 9th at the Madison County

Extension Office. A registration form

along with dates and pricing can be

found on page 4. If you would like a

copy of the entire flyer, please stop by

the Estill County Extension Office.

Deadline for registration will be Octo-

ber 18th. If you plan to attend one of

the stool classes, the deadline for regis-

tration will be October 1st.

2020 Piggy Bank Design Contest

The 2020 Piggy Bank Design Contest is

for students who attend public, private,

or home school grades Kindergarten

through 12th grades. This contest is a

creative way for youth to learn the im-

portance of saving money and reducing

debt. Try to get the youth in your fami-

ly involved in this contest by helping

them design and submit an original

piggy bank. Piggy banks will be accept-

ed here at the Estill County Extension

Office until November 15, 2019. County

winners (2) will then move onto the

District contest. Winners will have

their names, grades, counties, and win-

ning piggy banks displayed in the Capi-

tal Rotunda in Frankfort Kentucky dur-

ing February 2020. Winners will also

receive a certificate. For more infor-

mation see the flyer on page 2 and the

registration and official rules on page 7.
