its goal to become carbon neutral by 2024. The West Campus Steam was renovated to run on natural gas.

12. Home Depot Smart House 1402FaberStreet The Smart House was the first LEED Platinum residence hall in
the country. This building is full of efficient technologies created by students, such as solar panels and rain collectors that save energy and water.

1. Duke Admissions 2138 Campus Drive Solar compacting trash and recycling bins outside of the visitor center were
designed by a graduate of Duke.
2. Duke Transit Buses from across campus provide service to this West Campus bus
stop in front of the Duke Chapel. Duke Transit provides free, accessible transportation to all areas of campus. Track buses in real time using the Transloc “Rider” app on your phone and at https://duke.transloc.com.
3. Zagster Bike Share 421ChapelDrive(locatedonthesideoftheAllenBuilding) Zagster offers 50 bikes for rental on demand at four locations across
campus.
4. West Union 416ChapelDrive Opening in 2016 and featuring 13 restaurants and a teaching kitchen, West
Union eateries include The Farmstead which uses locally-sourced ingredients and Sprout which serves only vegetarian and vegan fare. All campus eateries have eliminated Styrofoam, use unbleached napkins and compost pre-consumer waste.
5. Bryan University Center Solar 125ScienceDrive As you walk along the Plaza, look up on the roof of the Bryan Center to see
45 solar thermal panels, which provide 30-40% of the building’s hot water.
6. Enterprise CarShare BryanCenterParkingLot Students don’t need to bring a car to campus. Eighteen cars, including
electric vehicles, are available anytime at six locations to be rented by the hour or day.
7. Chapel Woods Walk through Chapel Woods on your way to Environment Hall. Chapel Woods
is designated as a ‘protected landscape’ by Duke. Duke is a university in the forest with many natural areas on campus, as well as the 7,000+ acre Duke Forest.
8. Environment Hall 9CircuitDrive Environment Hall is a LEED™ Platinum building, the highest level of
sustainability certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Green features include rooftop solar panels and gardens, innovative climate control and water systems, and windows that moderate light and heat.
