Unlike ordinary calligraphy, long special paper is used for Kakizome. Students must be very self-disciplined to perform this type of calligraphy. Congratulations to Luis Zambrano who placed 1st in his age group and to Coach Strickland who came in second overall (out of 1596) in the MLK Day 5K race at Piedmont park. 9 students/parents/faculty participated in the race. The following policy statement is taken from the Ridgeview Charter School Passport (agenda) concerning student use of cell phones at school:

“Students are to leave cell phones in their lockers in the “off” position. Students are subject to disciplinary action should they use a cell phone (including text messaging), or if their cell phone beeps or rings during school hours. Students may use cell phones before and after school hours outside of the building

while on school property.”

1st Offense - phone is taken for 24 hours and can only be retrieved by a parent/guardian. The confiscating teacher will give the cell phone to the grade level administrator by the

“Es requerido que los estudiantes dejen sus celulares apagados en los lockers. Si el estudiante usa el teléfono o texto o recibe llamadas o texto durante el horario de la escuela, este estará sujeto a acción disciplinaria. Los estudiantes están autorizados a usar el teléfono antes de la escuela o después de la escuela antes de entrar en el

edificio.

1ra Ofensa – el teléfono se confisca por 24 horas y debe ser recogido por el padre o guardián. El maestro que confisca el teléfono se lo entrega al asistenta a principal al final

del día.

2da Ofensa - el teléfono se confisca por 5 días de clases/1 semana y debe ser recogido por

el padre o guardián.

3ra Ofensa - el teléfono se confisca hasta el final del semestre escolar y debe ser recogido

por el padre o guardián
