DUE NEXT WEEK (1/31)
Any RCS students wishing to participate in any spring sport, must have their sports physicals turned in to Coach
Dixon or Mr. Pirozzi by Fri. Jan. 31st (in order to start tryouts the week of Feb. 3rd). NOTE: If your student has already
participated in a RCS sport this year (and their physical has not expired) you don’t
need to submit another one.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Are you an enthusiastic supporter of the Fine Arts and Athletics at RCS? Consider being a
member of the Foundation Advisory Committee! Meetings are bi-annual and
provide parents in the RCS community the opportunity to provide feedback, perspective and suggestions to improve our programs. Advisory committee members are the eyes, ears, voice and hands of the Foundation to

Japanese 8th grade students started the
new year with the Japanese tradition of
KAKIZOME - the first writing of the
New Year!! Unlike ordinary calligraphy,
long special paper is used for Kakizome.
Students must be very self-disciplined to
perform this type of calligraphy. As you
can see, our students did a wonderful job!

at the MLK Day race! Congratulations to Luis Zambrano who
placed 1st in his age group and to Coach
Strickland who came in second overall (out
of 1596) in the MLK Day 5K race at
Piedmont park. 9 students/parents/faculty
participated in the race. If you are

The following policy statement is taken from the Ridgeview Charter School Passport (agenda) concerning student use of cell phones at school:
“Students are to leave cell phones in their lockers in the “off” position. Students are subject to disciplinary action should they use a cell phone (including text messaging), or if their cell phone beeps or rings during school hours. Students may use cell phones before and after school hours outside of the building
while on school property.”
1st Offense - phone is taken for 24 hours and can only be retrieved by a parent/guardian. The confiscating teacher will give the cell phone to the grade level administrator by the
end of the day.
2nd Offense - phone is taken for 5 school days/1 week and can only be retrieved by a
parent/guardian.
3rd Offense - phone is taken until the end of the semester and can only be retrieved by a
parent/guardian.
Don’t risk losing your phone - keep it turned off and locked in your locker during the school day!

“Es requerido que los estudiantes dejen sus celulares apagados en los lockers. Si el estudiante usa el teléfono o texto o recibe llamadas o texto durante el horario de la escuela, este estará sujeto a acción disciplinaria. Los estudiantes están autorizados a usar el teléfono antes de la escuela o después de la escuela antes de entrar en el
edificio.
1ra Ofensa – el teléfono se confisca por 24 horas y debe ser recogido por el padre o guardián. El maestro que confisca el teléfono se lo entrega al asistenta a principal al final
del día.
2da Ofensa - el teléfono se confisca por 5 días de clases/1 semana y debe ser recogido por
el padre o guardián.
3ra Ofensa - el teléfono se confisca hasta el final del semestre escolar y debe ser recogido
por el padre o guardián
No se tome el riesgo de perder su teléfono –manténgalo apagado y en el
locker durante las horas de clases!

Zambrano quien ganó el primer lugar en
su categoría (edad) y al maestro Coach
Strickland quien tomó el segundo lugar.
Coach Strickland compitió con 1596
atletas en la Carrera MLK Day 5K en el
Parque Piedmont. Tuvimos 9
representantes de Ridgeview entre
