Over the years Oyster has honed its strengths and has also restored and refitted many fine Superyachts. With a diverse portfolio from the wonderful classic Fife Cambria, the J-Class Velsheda to all-carbon lightweight yachts such as Leopard 3 and Sojana, Oysters’ Southampton Shipyard has developed a synergy between restorations and customised new builds, unique in its sector.

Master craftsmanship, reliable, first-class engineering and close attention to detail, all underpinned by sound project management, make certain of a fine yacht but also an exciting and enjoyable build process through which each owner can bring his or her own style and enthusiasm into the final design.

‘Choice not compromise’ is our mantra and our world-renowned Customer Service operation ensures that beyond the launch and carefully managed handover, the enjoyable experience of design, specification and build continues as you fulfil your sailing dreams and adventures across the world’s oceans.

For over 40 years, Oyster Yachts has developed a deserved

reputation for building some of the world’s finest bluewater

cruising yachts. Working with Humphreys Yacht Design over the

past 15 years, this standing has been further strengthened with

Oyster Yachts’ increasing activity in the professionally crewed sector.

Specialising in the 70 – 125ft range of the Superyacht market and

with more than 50 yachts built or under construction since 2002,

Oyster Yachts has a wealth of experience to guide an owner

through his or her choices.

Owning an Oyster is a passport to that ‘special place’ in life where you can truly

relax, indulge and enjoy yourself to the full.

The Oyster ownership experience is like no other. During a history spanning over 40 years, we have built more than 1000 yachts for clients with the desire and ambition to live their own personal dream on the water. Kindred spirits and each with a passion for sailing, forming strong friendships and enjoying good living, Oyster owners embrace a wonderful combination of family activities and a spirit of adventure. Of course, the sea-kindly handling, comfortable performance and ocean-proven cruising ability of their yachts are other attractions within this seductive mix.

The exclusive Oyster Regattas and owners’ dinners, together with the unique Oyster World Rally, create wonderful opportunities to enjoy the company of other Oyster owners.

As a result the Oyster marque is widely recognised and respected around the world, for the uniqueness of its designs, and for the unmatched build quality, supreme performance and an outstanding level of customer communication and after sales support. Evidenced, we’re proud to say, by the fact that around a third of all the boats we build each year are delivered to current Oyster owners.

In 2000 the renowned and internationally respected shipyard,

Southampton Yacht Services (SYS) became part of the Oyster Group, now

known as Oyster Yachts Southampton (OYS).

Established more than 30 years ago at Northam, Southampton, UK, the SYS yard quickly earned a reputation as one of the leading major refit facilities in Europe. On the corner of the River Itchen and home to ship and yacht construction for almost 200 years, OYS retains this maritime tradition, working at the hub of the UK’s marine industry. The yard carefully blends technology, innovation, traditional skills and craftsmanship. At all levels, within the shipyard, with external suppliers, and with clients and representatives, the OYS team works in partnership and observes a simple yet powerful set of beliefs: Trust, Teamwork, Transparency, Fairness and Pride.

These beliefs have earned us the right to complete major refits and restoration work on a number of the world’s largest and most important sailing and motor yachts including classics such as Altair, Cambria, Thendara, Ticonderoga, Ilona of Kylesku, Belle Aventure, and Velsheda plus contemporary vessels such as Mari-Cha III, Caneli & Waterlily and Intuition II.

More recently, OYS has developed new technologies to apply wood grain veneers directly onto carbon laminates to enable traditional looking but ultra-light interior cabinetry and trim. This has attracted owners of well known performance yachts like Leopard 3, Sojana and Liara to select OYS for their upgrades and refits, and to encourage one oligarch to commission OYS to build his Superyacht tenders!

It’s fair to say that the lighter, more spacious and airy saloon – with its attractive and sociable connection to the action or relaxation going on in the cockpit – is the principal benefit of the Deck Saloon design and the one most appreciated by our owners.

We have always believed that the design process is one of the most critical phases in the creation of any great yacht. Our emphasis on this aspect has not simply moved with the times but kept ahead consistently, moving appropriately and taking advantage of equipment and material developments.

Designed ‘by sailors for sailors’, Oyster’s team find the balance between functionality and design; handholds and grab rails where necessary styled carefully into the furniture. Equipment placed for maintenance at sea rather than relying on the calm comfort of a marina berth. Essential examples of a good design.

Expert, inspired design that considers function as well as form, is what makes an

Oyster the world’s finest Deck Saloon yacht.

In fact, Oyster originally introduced the term ‘Deck Saloon’ to the nautical

vocabulary in the early 80s and, although the concept has since been widely

emulated, we are still the unchallenged leader over 35 years later.

The starting point is the hull lines. All the yachts in the Oyster fleet, from the

475 to the 118, have been drawn by Humphreys Yacht Design, a father and son team,

proud of being one of Britain’s best known and longest established firm of naval

architects. Their experience and success is broad; custom and production cruising

yachts, many inshore and offshore racing yachts, not to mention America’s Cup

and Volvo Ocean Racers.

Oyster’s in-house design team take the naval architect’s hull, appendage and rig configurations, then style and create the deck design and the interior layout. In the process, refining and optimising the interior accommodation.

The design team are equipped with the very latest fully integrated CAD software – and they really know how to use it to the best effect – maximising the use of every cubic centimetre below decks. A further team of in-house structural, mechanical and electrical designers exploit the benefits of modern construction materials to produce a massively strong and safe hull, whilst the engineering systems of the yacht are planned to ensure easy service access for optimal reliability. As a result of this integrated approach, every aspect of hull, deck, interior, engineering and systems design is developed in complete harmony.

A comprehensive tank testing programme has refined the development of twin rudders and centreboard designs.

Equally, because they work closely together, our uniquely talented group of designers move the design process forward in exciting, innovative ways – a process of gradual refinement and extremely carefully considered development. After all, the demands of the sea have not changed in thousands of years and however important the latest styling feature might be, it will not be considered if it affects the ability of your Oyster to sail comfortably and to cope with the very toughest ocean sailing conditions.

We never cut corners – we demand only the very best materials and the most reliable equipment. We pay attention to the smallest detail and we won’t accept anything less than perfection in terms of fit, finish and engineering integrity. Every yacht has its own quality control Build Log, to audit standards throughout the construction process, and once completed, our Commissioning Team carry out a far-reaching series of tests before the yacht is allowed to be handed over to its proud owners. What’s more, we are constantly reviewing new equipment and ideas, since we don’t expect our owners to try anything we have not thoroughly tested ourselves. Expecting you to want to sail to remote locations, after sales availability of spares and service, is always part of our design and specification.

Everyone connected with our yachts – designers, toolmakers, joiners, painters, shipwrights, fitters, electricians, engineers, riggers, office and service staff – play an integral part in this endeavour for excellence. Which is why, over 40 years of commitment and hard work later, our closely guarded reputation is firmly established and grows even stronger.

The pursuit of true excellence is a never-ending voyage and one to which we are totally committed. When you choose an Oyster, you choose excellence.

From the very beginning our mission has been to build an

international reputation for supreme standards of design and build,

blended with outstanding, indeed rare, levels of customer service

and after sales support. That’s why at Oyster, nothing less than

sheer excellence in everything we do, will do.

Designed to efficiently comply with commercial coding, the Oyster 895 offers up to four cabins, all en-suite, for the owner and his/her guests, supported by four crew in two cabins. A clear separation of crew and galley quarters from the owners’ accommodation creates the feel of a much larger Superyacht. Two different deck superstructure options and three saloon configurations enable the owner to have wonderful flexibility to make this a very personal yacht.
