Want a few tips and tricks to make your inaugural trip a bit more enjoyable? Here are a few of our favorite ideas for the best RV experience:

1. The RV camping community is smaller than you think. Start by attending an RV Rally. These are fun events filled with seasoned RVers who can show you the ropes and share a few tales from the road. You’ll meet folks that are year-rounders and also those who simply like a weekend away. One of the best things about the rallies is that you’ll get to see lots of RVs and accessories owned by people just like you.

2. Decide on a destination. Have you been meaning to see the Steen Mountains, but don’t feel like sleeping in a rustic cabin in the desert? Or does a weekend at the Oregon Coast sound like the perfect getaway, but you’d rather avoid staying in a costly hotel? Sleeping in your own bed sure does sound nice! You can always try a rental RV first to see how you like it.

3. Be comfortable. If you want to have the feel of tent camping with the comfort of a soft bed, then a tent trailer might be a good option. If you can’t go a day without a hot shower, perhaps a fifth wheel or travel trailer might suit you. Or if you want all the luxuries of home, but in a scenic setting, then consider a motorhome. Whatever your needs, the great big world of RV camping is ready and waiting for you to enjoy it. So get out there!

I love meeting interesting people from all walks life.

What are you doing when you’re not at work? We heard you like to travel.

It’s true. I do like to travel. I especially like to cruise and get people on group cruises, because I simply enjoy people. I like to show them a new way at looking at life and travel.

What has been your favorite place to visit so far?

I love Key West. There are so many RV parks along the Florida coast. Who couldn’t have a great time there with the warm ocean water?

What is your dream destination?

Probably Tahiti. And the Greek islands.

What do you always take on an RV trip?

Wine and sunglasses.

Ducks or Beavers?

Ohio State Buckeyes.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

That I have a lot of secret talents. I can build my own furniture, for one. I taught wind surfing. I was a trainer of trainers for the YMCA and Red Cross for aquatics. I graduated with a fashion photography major. And, of course, I’ve travel extensively in the US and abroad. If you want to know more, come on out and see me.

If you were lucky enough to win the lottery, what would you do with the money?

I would probably pay off all the bills in the house, help my family members and travel.

Why dedicate your life to RVs?

It’s part of the travel lover in me. It’s something I can do with travel that impacts people all over.

What one song is an absolute must while on a road trip?

“I’m Leaving on a Jet Plane,” but replace jet plane with motorhome. However, my favorite song is “You Make Me Smile,” by Uncle Kracker.

What drives you to help others?

I don’t know. It’s just me. I suppose to see the end

result as a smile.

What three adjectives would other people use to describe your personality?

(As she turns to ask someone in the room) Happy, sweet and loving.

Do you have any pets?

Callie and Lady. One’s small four legged and one’s big four legged.

What’s your favorite television show of all times?

I don’t really watch TV, but it would have to be on the Hallmark Channel...especially at Christmas time.

Rv Fuel economy By Miki Markovich

Ah. Inevitably, ‘round this time, people start talking about fun fall times, the ample harvest and the warmth of the hearth. There isn’t much that brings more warmth to the heart when standing at the fuel pump than good fuel economy. We know that one sure way to increase fuel economy is to buy a brand new RV with all the latest innovations. For some, that is exactly what they want to do. However, others appreciate classic coaches, which for some feel like part of the family.

No matter what moves you, here are some tips for increasing fuel economy that can work for just about anyone meandering this majestic country of ours.

1. Proper tire inflation pressure is crucial. Maintaining correct inflation pressure based on actual tire load will optimize tire life, ride quality and fuel economy. When tire pressure is as little as 10 psi lower than the manufacturer’s recommendation for the weight, fuel economy could drop.

2. Fuel up during the week. Gas prices tend to be lower during the week with rates rising on the weekend. Use the smart phone app Gas Buddy to find a gas station near your camping site that has the lowest prices and gas up before the weekend or holiday rush.

3. Don’t fill up the tank when you see the refueling truck. If you see a gasoline tanker at the station, don’t fill up. Filling underground tanks can stir up sediment, which can clog fuel filters.

4. Use cruise control: According to fueleconomy.gov, cruise control will most likely increase fuel economy at any speed. However, when you stay within an optimal range of speed, it can be extremely beneficial as mileage “usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 50 mph.” Not to mention that driving fast and accelerating too quickly, especially when too hot or cold outside, can result in more frequent repairs.

5. Lighten your load. Added weight in your RV or tow vehicle affects fuel economy, so leave unnecessary items and fill water tanks after arriving to your campsite.

6. Maintain your RV or tow vehicle: Maintaining your vehicle can save you money in both the short and the long run. For instance, a clean air filter can improve your fuel economy up to ten percent. On the flipside, a vehicle that needs a tune up can lower your fuel economy up to 20 percent.

Seven Tips for Fall and Winter Maintenance Autumn is here. The kids are back in school, the leaves are turning and the nights are noticeably cooler. To help you prepare for the school year, fall and upcoming holidays, Guaranty GM Certified Service and Parts has a few seasonal tips for you.

1) Stick to the recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle. If you’ve been getting your oil changes and other maintenance items taken care of as recommended, you have one less thing to worry about.2) Learn DIY basics, such as checking the tire pressure and fluid levels. This can be especially important during the winter when you can lose a pound of pressure for every 10 degrees dropped in temperature.3) Pay attention to your vehicle’s lights and sounds. Also consider taking a little time here and there to turn down the radio and listen for odd noises.4) Get problems checked out sooner rather than later. Make sure you and the ones you care about are safe on the road.5) Be prepared in case of emergency by traveling with jumper cables, a tire pressure gauge and a flashlight. You may even want to consider putting together a survival kit for the car.6) Ensure your battery’s charged. Winter can be harder on your battery than other seasons, especially if you park outside.7) Wax your headlights. Really. Wash, dry, wax and buff. You’ll find you have stronger light that’s less likely to gain an ice coat. When the days are short and weather’s harsh, every bit helps.
