She gladly volunteered her time at QAS, for years, as a committee member and had a term as secretary. Joy was a great support to Derek in his many years as QAS Treasurer. Joy and Derek were very gen- erous sponsors - contributing gifts of frames and framing to QAS prize winning artists. When the only heating in the gallery was the small open fire, which went on to be a fan forced closed in wood heater, all well before the magic of air conditioning, Joy and Derek ensured the fire was going, and the gallery warm for those of us attending classes. The ongoing dedication, by this couple, to QAS resulted in them being awarded life membership of the Society. Joy was the artist, Derek was the framer. Being colour-blind, Derek could see tone but not colour. Joy, his right hand woman, was always on hand to assist customers select the correct mat board and frame. She was the quality control. TTHE loss of Joy Rogers Joy Rogers is a sad moment in QAS, a lovely lady who gave much of her life

to the Society. She was granted Life Membership for her service and it was her kindness, her companionship and her friendship to many that she will be remembered for! Congratulation to our four members chosen to be the Guest Artists in the 11th Annual Art Show in City Walk, Canberra. For those who don‘t know the committee select four members to be the Guest Artists each year and they are granted the first four bays in the Art Show for free entry but they donate a painting for the annual QAS Raffle. Thank you to all the members who took part in the Council Christmas In July at the Queanbeyan Show Ground. It was well received as QAS was represented by members art. Welcome to the Canberra Sculpture Group who have joined QAS, we hope you enjoy your art with us and the friendship of the society. Last week we had a final inspection on the new ‗Working Gallery‘ facility by Council and the report will come back soon.

The committee is pleased with members thoughts re the new facility and have taken on board many ideas. The committee is

keen to make the 11th Charity Art Show with a Market a huge success and hope members make the effort to

enter their art.

SPONSORS NEEDED SPONSORS NEEDED

MMEMBERS are asked to seek sponsorship as the coming

year will be more demanding on QAS finances than usual, we need to support the new Gallery and paint the main building inside and out. Sponsorship can come in many different ways, such as the naming rights for an Exhibition, naming a Media Section, QAS Calender month ad, Newsletter ad, and enter more works in Exhibitions. The bigger the pool the more awards for QAS members.

BRING AND BUY BRING AND BUY

MMEMBERS can do their bit to support the QAS Bring and
