Greetings and Congratulations,

Welcome to the 2015 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s Awards Ceremony! Today, we celebrate the 850 men and women who embody the best of NIH. Their exceptional contributions in the fields of biomedical research, administration, mentoring, and clinical care have served to advance NIH’s mission.

The accomplishments of today’s honorees reflect not only their outstanding skills and talents, but their extraordinary dedication to NIH and its noble goal of supporting scientific advances that improve human health. So, it is only fitting that this year’s awards ceremony recognizes these stellar—and selfless—achievements.

As Director of NIH, allow me to extend my deepest gratitude to each award recipient for your perseverance and commitment. You have gone beyond the call of duty to carry out bold, important work that will benefit biomedical research for years to come. I also want to thank the many family members, friends, and co-workers attending this ceremony; your support has made it possible for these awardees to help NIH attain its goals.

Today, NIH has 850 reasons to celebrate—and even more opportunities to look forward to—as we together pursue our mission of turning discovery into health. Because of your dedication to NIH, biomedical research is truly at its best!

We salute your accomplishments and offer best wishes for continued success,

Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D. Director, NIH
