Dear Parish Family,

One of the most exciting aspects of our Capital Campaign will be the new statues we are having commissioned for the Main Church. Fr. John and his team have been working with King Richard’s Liturgical Design & Contracting to obtain these unique and original works of art. At this time, we have opportunities for families to sponsor these artworke, creating memorial gifts to St. Joseph’s Parish that will last for many generations to come. If this is a gift you are interested in making, I ask you to please see me so that we may further discuss this. We are commissioning five statues in total and they are: The Crucifix, Sorrowful Mother Mary at Calvary, St. John the Apostle at Calvary, a statue of the Holy Family with emphasis on St. Joseph and a relief of St. Cecilia which will adorn the choir area.

In spite of the COVID-19 virus the life of the parish is moving towards the normalcy that we once enjoyed. The movement has begun with the gradual reopening of our Eucharistic adoration. Cur-rently we have adorations Monday—Friday in the Cody Center Chapel following the 8:00a.m. daily Mass concluding with Benediction at 11:45 a.m. Our Hispanic Community will be hosting an evening adoration on the second Friday of each month from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. in the Cody Center Chap-el. Also scheduled is an Adoration for Vocations which will take place on Friday, August 28, from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. in the Cody Center Chapel. Prayer is our best resource during these trying times. Time before our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament is the perfect venue by which we may implore His Divine aid for ourselves, our families, our parish world.

In addition to the opening of Eucharistic Adoration we will begin to allow ministries to meet in the Cody Center. At this time, we only have the second-floor meeting rooms available and access will be limited. Our goal is to ensure that each group who needs space will be given this opportunity but we all must be flexible with our days and times. Once the Main Church reopens additional meeting space will be available.

Our St. Joseph Catholic School reopened this past Wednesday and we appreciate all the hard work our Principal, Robin Fecitt and her staff did to ensure the School was safe for all. I am also very grateful to the many parents of our School who have been so supportive through out this pandemic.

Our PREP registration is under way and we look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday, September 16th for the first evening of classes. Registration is still open and please visit our web page to complete your enrollment. We are so very grateful to our Administrator of Religious Educa-tion, Lourdes Flemming for her countless hours of hard work to ensure our program is a success.

This week we welcomed George Doyle to the Parish Staff. George will be serving the parish for a pe-riod of two years as a student of Notre Dame’s ECHO program. This apprenticeship is a component of the theology graduate program that George is completing. George will be taking an active role in the full life of our parish and I ask you keep him in prayer during his time here.

The Diocese has recently published a beautiful book titled “Faith on a Mission: A portrait of the Dio-cese of St. Augustine at 150 years.” A copy of this book is available for your preview this weekend in the lobby of the Cody Center. The book will be left at the small receptionist desk. Copies of the book are available for sale in the Rectory at a cost of $40, including shippinhg and handling.
