Read critiques of the movie “Romeo & Juliet” and compare them with your own journals of the book.

Our final 3 learning objectives are as follows:
1) Watch “Romeo & Juliet” starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
2) Write an essay about your favorite character.
3) Produce, perform, and/or take part in the school production
of “Romeo & Juliet”.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Montague Family consists of several important characters.
Montague and his wife, Lady Montague.
Romeo, (one of our main characters!).
Benvolio, cousin and best friend of Romeo.
THE MONTAGUE FAMILY
The Capulet Family also consists of some important characters.
Capulet and his wife, Lady Capulet.
Juliet, (another main character!).
Tybalt and Rosaline are also Capulets.
THE CAPULET FAMILY
There are several other characters of importance.
Prince Escalus – The Prince of Verona.
Count Paris – A suitor to Juliet.
Mercutio – Kin to Escalus and friend to Romeo.
Friar Laurence – Romeo’s confidant.
OTHER CHARACTERS
“Romeo & Juliet” is an excellent read as well as an entertaining movie.
Read the book, watch the movie, and you will grasp the main idea
with relative ease.
