GRADING SYSTEM

Session Grades A student's average for each session will be

determined by homework/classwork (daily grades), two regular test grades and a session mastery test grade.

Homework/ Classwork (Daily Grades) 30% of the session grade Teachers will check homework for

completeness and students will be given one weekly homework grade.  Daily grades will include bellwork, quizzes and general classwork.

GRADING SYSTEM, CONT.

Tests 70% of the session grade Students will be given two teacher made tests

and one session mastery test per session.  Students must use a pencil on all tests.  In accordance with the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE), only a basic, 4-function calculator will be used on assessments.

***In order to move to the next session of Pre-Algebra for Mastery they must have a 60 average in the class and make at least a 60 on the session mastery test. If a student does not meet these requirements, the student will be given another opportunity to master the content by repeating that part of the program.

Quarter Grades A quarter (9-weeks) average will be

calculated by averaging all session grades completed at that given time.

Final Grades A student’s final average for the year will be

figured by taking the average of all sessions completed which will account for 80% of the final grade and the students End-of-Course Test grade which will be given when a student completes all required Pre-Algebra curriculum and account for 20% of the final Pre-Algebra Grade.

Attendance is very important in this program; please encourage your student to attend everyday.

Please make dental/doctor appointments at other times if at all possible.

Poor attendance could cause a student fall behind, resulting in an unsatisfactory mastery test score.

MAKE-UP WORK

Homework and classwork should be made up per school policy.  Any assignment missed within three days of a mastery test must be made up by the test date.  Students who are absent on a Mastery test date will take the test on the day they return to school.
