OLWEUSPronounced (ol-VAY-us)
The Olweus Anti-Bullying Program is in its 7th year of existence at Exeter Junior High. Every faculty/staff member in the building has been trained as an Olweus instructor. Each year the Olweus core committee decides on a presenter and a specific topic of interest for an assembly that ties in with our Olweus model. The core committee has established a curriculum for 7th and 8th grade students.
Twice per month in the Fall semester and once per month in the Spring semester all students return to homeroom at the end of the day for a 40-minute class on one of many topics including the following: Informing vs. Tattling, Empathy, Reporting, Rumors/ Gossip, Cyber bullying, Sexual Harassment, Current Events, and many more. Most homerooms have two faculty/staff members assigned to lead the classes. See JH website for more information.
