organized 'Nruthya Neerajana', a theme-based cultural evening with around

Circa 1998...A young Guru (Mithun Shyam) begins his teaching career with a single disciple at his house in an upcoming suburb in Bangalore East, Banaswadi.

Cut to 2013…both Banaswadi and Vaishnavi Natyashala have kept pace with each other growing in geometric progressions. The small beginning of Vaishnavi Natyashala, one of the premier dance institutions in our neighborhood is now teeming with over 400 students! From the Guru's residence (a small building) to a spacious 4000 sft studio (Opp: Ayyappa Temple, Banaswadi) Vaishnavi Natyashala truly has come a long way…

Today, a premier dance institution with over seven teachers under the hawk-eye of the Guru himself, training more than 400 students at a time; nine arangetrams and 75 Prathama Praveshas old…the buzz of activity in this dance studio is a sight during weekends!

From 'tiny little steps' Mithun has gone international by sharing his expertise and knowledge not only teachers, but with upcoming dancers at Bangkok by conducting workshops and classes in Bharathanatyam. He has also performed at various cities in USA and China. His 'cultural footprints' is being spread by his students' globally who are now settled in many countries abroad.

One of the finest expositions this year has been the much acclaimed Bibi Nachiyar. Set to a breath taking canvas, this dance-drama depicting and eulogizing the advent of Sri Ramanujacharya and the establishment of the Cheluvanarayana Temple at Melukote in Karnataka…has been receiving rave reviews not only by art lovers but his peers in the industry too. This epic under the ardent guidance of Tiru Swamiji, Director of Krishna Kalakshetra, ISKCON and Smt. Dwaraki Krishnaswamy, a leading flautist/music composer has already seen about six shows within as many months of creation, at many prestigious venues in Bangalore to thunderous applause!

Vaishnavi Natyashala's other masterpieces include “Samhara Thandava” and “Anjaneya Mahima” which has been performed at various cultural events around the country.

Keeping in view the community 'inclusion' Mithun Shyam and his team at Vaishnavi Natyashala have performed to several community causes at Modi Eye Hospital, Kidwai Memorial Hospital, Spastic Society and old-age homes. As part of CSR initiative…the institution also provides scholarships to deserving students willing to learn Bharathanatyam. Currently, these students form more than 10% of the total strength.

From little 'baby-steps' to global 'footprints'…Vaishnavi Natyashala (under able guru Mithun Shyam) has come a long way in 15 years to become this neighborhood's pride! With admirers around the world…this cultural institution is poised for many more global accolades in the years to come!

Ingredients:

1 cup Basmati rice

2 onions finely chopped

3 tablespoons grated carrot

3 tablespoons of ghee

3 tablespoons of oil

2 green chilly finely chopped

A pinch of kesar colour

Method:

Cook 1 cup of Basmati rice, add salt and drain the rice. Divide the cooked rice in three portions

First Portion: (Saffron rice) Heat oil in a pan, add onion and fry. Add grated

carrot, chilly powder, kesar. Add rice, mix well and keep aside

Second Portion: (Green rice) Heat ghee, add green chilly, add pudina and coriander paste, add a pinch of salt. Add rice, mix well and keep aside.

Third Portion: (White coconut rice) Heat ghee, add cashew nuts, add grated coconuts, a pinch of salt. Add rice, mix well and keep aside..

Presentation: Take a glass bowl and arrange the rice in tricolours
