OnAir reliability for all requirements

In response to the requirement for integrating mixing consoles into custom made furniture, Studer is launching the OnAir 500 Modulo, a fur-ther extension of Studer’s comprehensive OnAir product portfolio of digital mixing consoles.

The OnAir 500 Modulo is based on the same reli-able platform as the OnAir 500 in its fixed frame version but additionally offers the freedom to place the individual modules wherever it is most

convenient for the users. The OnAir 500 Modulo consists of one or two fader modules, one master module, the meter bridge and a 19” electronics rack, resulting in a 6 fader or a 12 fader mixing desk.

The technical specifications and configurations are the same as for the standard Studer OnAir 500. Please consult the OnAir 500 brochure for detailed information.

Fader Module

The Fader Module includes six channel faders with ON, OFF, CUE, Select and Input 2 buttons. A 4-character display at the top of the channel status window indicates the source name. A second source can be selected by the Input 2 button directly below the status window which indicates bus assignments, EQ or dynamics being active and cleanfeed and talkback status. The select button assigns this respective channel to the Master Module. The console can be equipped with one or two Fader Modules giving a total of six or twelve faders.

Master Module

The Master Module provides two stereo master faders for the main buses, which can also be de-assigned if desired, Aux send controls and EQ, dynamics and high pass filter controls. In addition an LCD display gives access to menus for setting up the console dynamics, storing presets and configuring the console. Direct access to the input router is also given by these menus. Comprehensive monitoring and talkback facilities for the control room and one studio are provided, at the right-hand side of the Master Module.

Meter Module

The Meter Module of the OnAir 500 Modulo has two 30-LED stereo bargraph meters, each with a phase correlation indicator, in the centre. On the right are two digital timers which can be controlled by adjacent buttons or from selected fader channels, and on the left of the meters is the CUE loudspeaker and its controls. As the OnAir 500 Modulo is available with an optional first

level power supply redundancy feature, indicators on the front panel of the meter bridge signal the correct functioning of the power supplies or the failure of one of them. In addition the console can also be operated by any external 24 V DC source, e.g. a battery. The dimensions of the Meter Module allow for installation into a 19” Rack.

Power Supply

The power supply of the Studer OnAir 500 Modulo is located in the 19” Processor Frame. Optionally, a first level power supply redundancy can be ordered (kit number 1.942.458.00) including a second primary power supply fitted within the Processor Frame. Two mains inlets at the back plate of the Processor Frame will be provided in addition to the 24 V DC connector. (Power consumption: 6 Fader 80 VA typ; 12 Fader 100 VA typ)

19” Processor Frame

The 19” Processor Frame includes the DSP and the control CPU, the input and output electronics and the power supply. The Fader Module(s) and the Master Module are connected via dedicated cables from the 19” frame to the modules, whereas the Meter Module is connected directly from the Master Module. Depending on the number of faders fitted to the console, one or two input modules may be fitted into the 19” frame.The OnAir 500 Modulo may be powered from mains voltage or via the dedicated DC connector below the mains inlet from any 24 V DC source.
