Diagnostic tool

IMPORTANT

Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and oper-ation recommendations before carrying out anyrepair (see Airbag and pretensioners: Precau-tions for the repair) (88C, Airbags and pretension-ers).

IMPORTANT

To avoid any risk of triggering when working on ornear a pyrotechnic component (airbags or preten-sioners), lock the airbag computer using the diag-nostic tool.

When this function is activated, all the trigger linesare inhibited and the airbag warning light on theinstrument panel lights up continuously (ignitionon).

IMPORTANT

Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretension-ers or airbags) near to a source of heat or nakedflame - they may be triggered.

Note:

To remove the headlining, strip one side of thevehicle only.

The headlining on vehicles with a sunroof is heldin place using Velcro strips (6) . Take care not todamage these when removing the headlining.

III - FINAL OPERATION

a Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

IMPORTANT

Before doing any work on a safety system compo-nent, be sure to lock the airbag computer using theDiagnostic tool (see Airbag and pretensioners:Precautions for the repair) . When this function isactivated, all the trigger lines are inhibited and theairbag warning light on the instrument panel is con-tinuously lit (with the ignition on).

IMPORTANT

Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretension-ers or airbags) near to a source of heat or nakedflame - they may be triggered.

Note:

To prevent the headrest guides from being mixedup, every headrest guide has a specific foolproof-ing device.

IMPORTANT

To prevent the headrest coming away from theguide during a collision, check that headrestguide locking system is functioning correctly.
