Canon law states, “One who is to receive the most Holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink, (this includes

coffee and doughnuts), with the exception only of water and

medicine, for at least a period of one hour before Holy

Communion” (CIC 919). The elderly, the sick and their caregivers are excused from this obligation. Brushing one’s teeth and other forms of hygiene such as using mouth wash does not break the fast. Chewing gum breaks the Eucharistic fast and should not be used an hour before Mass and should never be used in Church. Also, one should NEVER receive Holy Communion with chewing gum in one’s mouth and neither food nor drink should be brought into Church. The Fun Group will have their group mass for those members who have gone home to Jesus this year. Please plan to attend on Tuesday, 11/13 at 5pm. Dinner will follow the service. Pre-Advent Small Group Gatherings: These gatherings will meet for either three or four sessions, depending upon your group, to explore and discuss Father Albert Haase’s book, Saying Yes. This book and these gatherings are a wonderful way to prepare for Advent as you explore what God’s will is, specifically, for you! The fee is $10 per book. Come join us as we prepare for Advent!
