As the soul is the life of the body, so the Holy Spirit is the life of our souls.

2. St. Joseph, humble and obedient servant of God, I come before you seeking your powerful intercession. Pray for me that I may discover and live faithfully my personal vocation and mission. Lead me in silence to better hear God’s call. Teach me the virtues of humility and obedience. Guide me along the path God has chosen for me. Equip me with the skills I need to accomplish my life’s work. Protect me from worldly distractions that draw me away from God’s will. Work with me as I live out my life-purpose in my home, the Church and the world. In imitation of you, may I live by faith, humility and obedience, submitting my mind and heart to God with complete trust and confidence in His Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

PETITIONS FOR ST. JOSEPH’S BLESSINGS

Bless me, O dearly beloved Father, St. Joseph; bless my body and my soul; bless my resolutions, my words and deeds, all my actions and omissions, my every step; bless all that I possess, all my interior and exterior goods, that all may lead to the greater honor of God. Bless me for time and eternity, and preserve me from every sin.

Obtain for me the grace to make atonement for all my sins by love and contrition here on earth, so that after my last breath I may, without delay, prostrate at thy feet, return you thanks in Heaven for all the love and goodness you, O dearest father, has shown me here below. Amen.

ST. MICHAEL PRAYER Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR A DECEASED FATHER O God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother; in Thy mercy have pity on the soul of my father, and forgive him his trespasses; and make me to see him again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS TO ST. JOSEPH 1. O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my Thanksgiving and Homage to the most Loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen. Men who could use the gentle wisdom of St. Joseph in their lives may not be sure how to establish or re-establish a patronal relationship with this great saint. The best place to start is simply to pray to St. Joseph, asking his intercession on our behalf before God. - http://stage.fathersforgood.org/ffg/index.html - Initiative for Men by the Knights of Columbus

St. Joseph’s mission is certainly unique and unrepeatable, as Jesus is absolutely unique. However, in protecting Jesus, in teaching him how to grow in age, wisdom and grace, he is a model for every educator, and in particular for every father. … I ask for you the grace to be ever closer to your children, allow them to grow, but be close, close! They need you, your presence, your closeness, your love. Be, for them, like St. Joseph: protectors of their growth in age, wisdom and grace. Guardians of their path, and educators: walk alongside them. And with this closeness, you will be true educators.

~ Pope Francis

Saint Joseph was a just man, a tireless worker, the upright guardian of those entrusted to his care. May he always guard,

protect and enlighten families. ~Pope John Paul II

NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH St. Joseph, you are the faithful protector and intercessor of all who love and venerate you. I have special confidence in you. You are powerful with God and will never abandon your faithful servants. I humbly invoke you and commend myself with all who are dear to me to your intercession. By the love you have for Jesus and Mary, do not abandon me during life and assist me at the hour of my death. Glorious St. Joseph, be my guide, my father, and my model through life that I may merit to die as you did in the Arms of Jesus and Mary. Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I am confident that your prayers on my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

~ Marians of the Immaculate Conception, ~ Association of Marian Helpers, Stockbridge, MA

PRAYER FOR FATHERS St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done. ~Pope John XXIII

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! (repeat three times) Followed by: Our Father … Hail Mary ... The Creed ... For each decade, on the “Our Father” bead say: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For each decade, on the ten small beads say: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. At the end of the 5 decades, say three times: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Optional Closing Prayer Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy Itself. ACT OF ADORATION We adore You, Most Holy Lord, Jesus Christ, here and in all the churches of the whole world, and we bless You because by Your Cross You have redeemed the world. Have mercy on us.

PRAYER TO THE VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE O Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, grant to our homes the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings, with the same love with which you conceived in your womb the life of the Son of God. Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair love, protect our families so that they may always be united and bless the upbringing of our children. Our hope, look upon us with pity, teach us to go continually to Jesus, and if we fall help us to rise again and return to him through the confession of our faults and our sins in the sacrament of penance, which gives peace to the soul. We beg you to grant us a great love of all the holy sacraments, which are, as it were, the signs that your Son left us on earth. Thus, Most Holy Mother, with the peace of God in our consciences, with our hearts free from evil and hatred, we will be able to bring to all others true joy and true peace, which come to us from your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

~ Pope John Paul II Other Prayers DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET (recited on regular rosary beads) Optional Opening Prayer First Prayer Leader: You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
