Past simple
Jack enjoyed the weekend. (enjoy)
My friend Lisa lived in Portugal. (live)
They slept in the tent. (sleep)
He lost the game. (lose)
Negative form: na forma negative, acrescentamos o auxiliar did + not = didn’t (não) antes do verbo.
Jack enjoyed the weekend. Jack didn’t enjoy the weekend.
He lost the game. He didn’t lose the game.

Past continuous
She was eating pizza. Observe que quando o sujeito for I, He, She, It, usamos o verbo WAS.
They were playing basketball. Quando o sujeito for You, We, They, usamos o verbo WERE.
(use) She was using the cell phone.
(travel) They were travelling.
