    CONNECTION

Doing It WellBy Rev. Dr. Jerry Black, Associate Minister

    Open doors,

    open arms,

    open hearts,

    open Table,

    open hands,

    and openmindsquite an

    impressive array

of ministries. We are indeed a people so

touched by the love and grace of God that

we dont just espouse, but live the values

of openness and inclusion. Its who we

area people with a unique ministry in this

community and a people with a profound

joy and energy for that ministry. Thats

why the stories and the spirit of enthusiasm

havent stopped with the June re:New

process. Its why the energy hasnt waned.

June was just the beginning of a realization

that we are indeed a responsive people of

God and do a lot that is good, true, just, and

right. And we do it well.

Now we are about finding ways to have

more of that which is good, true, just, and

righthow we can build on our essence,

our core DNA, and our God infused values.

Please know that our Sabbatical Task Force

clearly has this mission before them. Theyhave not left our June discoveries and

insights to rot and waste away on butcher

block paper. They are diligently at work,

digesting all we have shared and analyzing

all that we have suggested. In the coming

    months, they will provide invaluable

feedback on the possibilities for enhancing

our sense of family, worship, and designs

for ministry that maximize who we are and

    what we have learned.

Thanks to all who are making this summer

sabbatical so rich and powerful. May God

continue to guide and bless our dedication,

    cooperation, and sacrifice.

You might have heard our Outreach

Ministry is working on a Block Party for the

Rolling Green Apartment Complex. But you

might not know this our second year to bea part of a collaboration of churches and

agencies working to make a difference in

the lives of some Edmond residents who live

just up the street on the corner of Boulevard

    and Danforth.

    Last summer FCC Outreach ministries

was invited to participate in the Rolling

Green Collaborative (RGC). The RGC is

a ministry that aims to assist residents of a

the Rolling Green Apartments located at

Danforth and Boulevard. RGC was started

in 2008 by Father Mark Story and Mary

Ann Coffman, of Edmonds St. Marys

Episcopal Church after Father Story felt

a strong need to minister to the people

living in the complex. His statement to St.Marys that we cant have someone who

is hungry less than a mile from our parish

    sparked members to begin collaborating

with other churches and agencies to provide

    tutoring, activities and assistance.

    Wonderful relationships have been built

between the residents and RGC volunteers

the last three years. All of the hard work

has even encouraged the apartment owner

to invest in the property by installing new

    playground equipment.

The RGC meets four times a year to

Have You Heard About the Rolling Green Collaborative?discuss activites

    and projects.

    The residents

    are invited to the

    meetings and

    encouraged to give

    feedback.

    Last year

    FCC OutreachMinistries donated

funds to help purchase shoes for resid

children prior to school. This year we

hosting a full block party (read details

on page two) and offering many need

    items in a fun-filled day.

We are excited to be part of the R

    network of Edmond partners includin

St. Marys, First United Methodist, Fir

Presbyterian, a local Masonic lodge, U

    and the Edmond Police Department.

Together, we are making a difference
