PARISH OUTREACH Sacred Heart Parish Outreach greatly

appreciates the generosity of the parishioners of St. Anastasias.

Our Father’s Kitchen and Food Pantry gratefully accept the abundance of food items provided

in our ongoing food collection. Thank you for sharing God’s blessings

with those who are in need. Sincerely, Betsy Johnston, Director

DO YOU NEED SOME PEACE, SOMEONE TO TALK TO,

A PLACE TO RELAX AND LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND FOR A WHILE?

Our Lord instructed His Apostles to “Stay Awake With Him One Hour”

If you have never come to Adoration, it is a time to Adore Jesus in The Eucharist, spend time with Him in a very

intimate way, speak to Him, and most importantly in these busy days, it is a time to just sit in silence,

to let Him speak to you, guide you, and love you! There are two weekly opportunities at

Sacred Heart in Monroe Wednesday 8:00 am – 9:00 am and

Friday 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm. No need to bring anything, or know what to do etc, just come

sit with Him and feel His Peace. He awaits you. (You do not need to stay the full Hour if you cannot,

or have children with you etc.) They also offer a 7:30 pm Mass every First Friday, followed by Nocturnal Adoration 8:00 pm Friday thru 9:00 am Mass Saturday morning. It is

ideal to have 2 people present each Hour overnight, but there are times we only have one, due to illness etc., so if you would like to sign up for an Hour, or be placed on a substitute list,

please contact Eileen Collopy 845-774-8584 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The feedback from the more than 40 couples who recently

completed The Choice Wine Marriage Enrichment Journey was wonderfully positive. But the most common request was “More!

More! More!” For those who participated and for those couples who wanted to be there but a 9 part “weekly” commitment was impossible, we are happy to announcing a new six part “meet once a month”

series for married couples. “United in Love, United in Christ” is a program of incredibly inspiring videos from REAL couples, sharing their journeys and calling us to the Joy God wants for our Marriages. You will have 1-1 time with your spouse, small group discussions and fellowship with other married couples.

We’ll start Sunday, June 3rd, and run from 6-8 PM at St. Patrick’s, Rt 32, Highland Mills, then continue each first

Sunday evening for the following 5 months. The only cost is $20 per couple for all materials.

Come and see how your marriage can grow deeper in Christ. Please e-mail Mo and Mike McDonnell at

[email protected] or Lissette and Armando Quinones at [email protected] for more info or to sign up!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MARANATHA CARING MISSION
Thank you for your unwavering support of our mission at Maranatha. We appreciate your belief in our mission to establish and provide free medical clinics in the developing countries to care for those who are sick and poor. Your donations will be used to perform cataract surgeries to restore eye sights to several patients. We are deeply grateful for your generosity!
We could not have accomplished what we have done so far without your involvement. You are God sent and your involvement in this mission is providential. We are fortunate that you are with us on this journey. We pray that the hope and love you bring and share with others be returned to you a million times.
Maranatha Caring Community will offer prayers for your intentions. Fr. Francis will also offer Masses for your intentions too.
Please continue to pray for the success of our mission at Maranatha. May our good and loving Lord bless you abundantly
Gratefully yours in Christ, Sr. Regina Mgbakor
Ponerse en contacto con la Sra. Norma Negrete. - Tener presente que a partir del mes de junio estaremos recogiendo la donación para el programa “Renovar y reconstruir”. REFLEXIÓN DOMINICAL La muerte de Jesús en la cruz inspiró temor a quienes lo habían seguido. Todos los evangelios hablan del miedo que esto les produjo; y los mismos evangelios, Juan en particular, nos dicen que el temor es lo contrario de la fe. Tener fe es confiar, Juan nos dice que los discípulos en lugar de anunciar el mensaje de Jesús se encerraron. El Señor se presenta y les desea la paz, es decir la vida, la salud, la integridad. La alegría es el sentimiento que experimentan ante este nuevo encuentro con Jesús. El Señor los asocia a su tarea, ellos deben prolongar su misión, el envío que él recibió del Padre es el fundamento de la responsabilidad que deben asumir los discípulos.
El envío que hace Jesús se halla reforzado por el don del Espíritu. La palabra espíritu significa soplo, aliento vital, fuerza. Hay que ligarlo a paz, shalom según la expresión hebrea. La paz, la vida, se rompe por el pecado que expresa nuestra negativa a amar. Por ello perdonar es dar vida, perdonar a alguien significa confiar que esa persona es capaz de recuperar su capacidad de amar, de restablecer la amistad con Dios y con los demás rota por el pecado. Perdonar supone coraje y riesgo. Lo contrario de la actitud de los discípulos antes de recibir el don de la paz y del Espíritu Santo. Sin coraje y sin riesgo no es posible hacer presente el Evangelio en medio de las situaciones conflictivas que atravesamos hoy. Con frecuencia somos testigos en este tiempo de lo poco que vale la vida humana. Como Iglesia nos toca denunciarlo y no quedarnos en la casa con las puertas cerradas.
Por otro lado, la fuerza del Espíritu lleva a los discípulos a anunciar el Reino de Dios, centro del mensaje de Jesús. Contrariamente a lo que a veces se dice, Pentecostés no es el día en que todos se entendieron hablando un solo idioma. Su significación es más honda. Las personas que se encontraban en Jerusalén escucharon a los discípulos de Jesús “hablar en su propio idioma”. Cada quien habla su idioma, pero se comprenden. Pentecostés no borra las diferencias, acorta las distancias.
El lenguaje sobre Dios viene del mensaje cristiano, pero también del modo como lo ponemos en práctica. Esto último depende de circunstancias históricas muy precisas. Las distintas maneras de expresar el Evangelio deben ser respetadas, so riesgo de pecar contra el Espíritu. No uniformidad coactiva, pero sí entendimiento en la diversidad. Es bueno recordarlo en este tiempo ante los intentos de imponer un estilo único de vida, tanto personal como social. Amén.
