    Year One Testimonial:

TMIY was a powerful and rewarding experience for me. The

    method of presentation, sociological information,

demographic statistics, economic data, coupled with a

framework based on Scripture and examples from the lives of

holy men and women, created a strong and lasting message,

unlike I’ve ever encountered before. TMIY is the real thing. It

requires a serious commitment of time and participation

through the small groups, and, in return, it will provide

meaningful guidance, new relationships with Christian men,

and confidence for each man to fulfill his vocation as a

Christian man, husband, father, and member of a Catholic

Christian community. I’m grateful to the St. Brigid parish

leadership for approving the program, for the

encouragement and marketing by the organizers, and for the

energy, organization, and effort by the core team to bring it

all together at the inception and to keep it together in the

face of unimaginable challenges created by the coronavirus.

Regardless of the format, Face to Face or via Zoom, I’ll be

    back for the next program.

FUTURE PLANS IN PROCESS for April through the Summer months• Study of the Gospel of Mark• Double Book Discussion Pope Francis’ Book Let Us

Dream: The Path to a Better Future and See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love by Valerie Kaur

    • Video Series: An Astonishing Secret. Influenced by Pope Francis writing in Laudato Si, this series weaves two themes together-the mystery of Creation and the mystery of incarnation. A deeper understanding of thiscentral heart of Christianity broadens our self-understanding and our understanding of planet Earth.

    GOSPEL OF MARK

    Do you still not understand?

    Are your hearts hardened?

Do you have eyes yet still do not

    see?

Do you have ears yet still do not

    hear?

    Do you still not understand?

    These questions are woven in

and out through the Gospel of

Mark and as we walk around inside the heart of this Gospel,

we might ask ourselves the same questions. As we invite this

gospel to hold up a mirror to our lives, Jesus might ask the

    same question of us

Over the next few months, I hope that you will spend time

with the Gospel of Mark, not just in the few hours that we

gather via ZOOM but in your own study time, your own pray-

er time and in the common prayer of the Church’s liturgy.

Mark is the primary Gospel for the liturgy this year. Mark is a

fast-paced gospel. Jesus is on a mission and is driven to see it

to completion. Let the Gospel find the opening in you so that it

can enter into you and move around in you. Look for the

opening in the Gospel so that you can enter into it and walk

    around in it.

The study will be done in three parts. Part 1. January 18, 25

    and February 1, 8, 15, 2021. 10:30- approximately noon.

You need to register for this class. Registration link available

on the St. Brigid website, or click here to re ister. Once you

register you will receive a confirmation letter directing you to

register on ZOOM for the necessary codes.

Two suggested books: Mark’s Gospel: The Whole Story by

Joan Mitchell, CSJ ( recommended) Parables for Preachers

Year B: The Gospel of Mark Barbara Reid, OP (optional)

To empower young adults to transform their communities through their identity in Christ.

    Parenting Workshop:

    Surviving in Trying

    Times

    Crucial Conversations

will be hosting an upcoming Zoom parenting workshop series

    called Surviving in Trying Times.

Anyone else feel like they are in survival mode these days? Do

you ever have full, happy days where you forget the chaos of

the outside (or inside) world? Either way, we are all in the

thick of it and one thing that makes it tougher is trying to do it

all alone. So, let’s not try to do it alone. In this series we will be

inviting families to come together in a supportive learning

environment in order to engage with one another and with

practices that help us not just survive in trying times, but

thrive. We all have the capacity to cultivate safer

relationships with ourselves and others. The key is practice.

And practicing within the context of community makes it that

    much sweeter.

Please join us via this Zoom link on the following dates:

    Thursday, January 14, 7-8:30 PM

    Thursday, January 28, 7-8:30 PM

These workshops will include small group discussion and will

build on each other (so it's beneficial to attend them all, but

    not required).

    The Diocese of Columbus will

    be offering a Protecting God's

    Children (PGC) training session

    via ZOOM on Wednesday,

January 13, 2021 at St. Francis

    DeSales at 6:00 pm.

Please visit www.virtus.org for registration and meeting

instructions. Click on First-Time Registrant, View a list of

sessions, chose Columbus, OH (Diocese) and create a Virtus

account. This Zoom PGC session is listed under St. Francis

DeSales and open to St. Brigid parishioners.

Potential volunteers with children and youth must also

complete a St. Brigid volunteer application, signed code of

conduct, copy of photo ID, and submit to a criminal

background check. Full details and forms can be found at

    https://stbrigidofkildare.org/safe-environment/ or contact

Stacey Nerone, Safe Environment Manager at

    [email protected]

The Holy Rosary-St. John Martin Luther King Day Celebration

will be available online this year on our main website (hrsj.org).

We plan to have the video uploaded by Friday, January 15,

2021. Bishop Robert J. Brennan will offer opening remarks.

Our guest preacher is Father Reynaldo S. Taylor of the

Archdiocese of Cincinnati. We will also have musical selections

and readings from Scripture and from the writings of Dr. King.

Be sure to watch our main website at hrsj.org for more info.

We hope everyone around the Diocese will take the

opportunity to watch this celebration of Dr. King's life.
