NEEDS ASSESSMENTThis course is designed to changephysician competence inhealth informatics throughexposure to applications and systems in clinical, public health, and educationalenvironments. These applications will enable learners representing the entireinterdisciplinary healthcare team to visualize the benefits of health informatics in theirdailypracticeenvironmentsnowandinthefuture.Asnationalhealthcarereformmovesforward, the role of health informatics and communications technologies will greatlyexpand.Thefocusoninteroperabilityofsystemsisanationalpriority.
The need for cutting edge information about health informatics has been identified inpreviouscourseevaluationsandcommunityphysicianannualneedsassessmentsurveys.This year’s conference will specifically address identified educational needs related torecognizinghealthinformaticsapplicationsandsystemsthatwillprovidecurrenteffectivetreatment options and online educational opportunities. Course content will addresspreparinghealthcareprofessionalstoleadthewayinemployingeffectivesystemsofcareandtorecognizeorganizationalchangesthatwilloccur.Participantswillbeencouragedtousevariedapplicationsindailyactivitiestoimprovepatientcareandtopursueresearch.Collaborationamongstakeholdersisvitaltoimprovehealthcarethroughtheuseofhealthinformation exchange services that meet the diverse needs of the population. Facultypresentingandinteractingwithparticipantsatthisactivityhavebeenselectedonthebasisof their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence aswell as for theirdemonstratedinterestandexpertiseininnovation.
TARGET AUDIENCEThisknowledge-basedcoursewillbenefitphysiciansinallmedicalspecialtiesaswellasothermembers of the interdisciplinaryhealth care team includingnurses, pharmacists,informaticists, technologists, and others whose scope of practice is related to healthinformatics,includingprofessionalsininformationtechnologyandmanagement.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESAt the end of the program, participants should be able to:• Recognizeinformaticsapplicationsthatwillassistinthereformofhealthcare

ENROLLMENT Please register early – space is limited.Tuitionis$190forcommunityparticipants.Confirmation of registration will be sent within two weeks after receipt of enrollment form.ThefeeswillincreaseafterMarch1, 2012.
