By Kyle CognionWho will be the team to cut down thenets at the end of March Madness? There will be 68 teams entering; only onewill prevail.
I really like the style of play that Dukehas. Senior guard Nolan Smith is averag-ing 22 points and 5assists a game.Senior forward KyleSingler is alsoaveraging 16 pointsand 6 boards. Theyhave a record of 27-, while one of their
losses came to rivalorth Carolina.Texas is the team
’m rooting for thisyear. The Long-horns are 25- 6, with two losses comingfrom top 15 teams. All three of their topplayers are underclassmen, which is a
little sketchy. Jordan Hamilton is theplayer everyone is focused on. Eventhough he is only a sophmore, this is hisfirst year starting, and he is dropping 19points and grabbing 7 boards. TristianThompson, the dominating freshmancenter is averaging 14 points, 9 boards, and 2.5 blocks so far this year. CoryJoseph is also doing work, dropping 12
points and dishing out 4 assists a game.So look for the University of Texas tomake a run deep into the tournament.
Ohio State is the number one rankedteam in the nation as of now. They are anamazing basketball team, their recordproves that. Going 29-2, the only two
losses were to Purdueand Wisconsin (bothteams are ranked in thetop 25). Jared Sullingeris the big man oncampus this year. He isthe top ranked freshmancenter, averaging 17points and 10 boards.David Lighty andWilliam Buford are alsohaving an exceptionalyear for the Buckeyes.
I’m betting that this is their year.BYU is a team who is going to be
overlooked this year. Their record shows
that they are a phenomenal team, 28-3.Jimmer Fredette is looking like thenation’s most prestigous player this year.He is BYU basketball, averaging 29points and 6 assists a game. But teamateJustin Emry is helping out with his 13 ppgand 4 APG. So look for it to be Jimmertime this year.
I’m pumped for March Madness.

Ryan Chojnacki (12)
“... Derek Rose. He’s an amazing
baller; he tears it up!”
CJ Alward (12)
“... definitely Derek Rose. He is a
monster and drives the lane like a boss, all around boss.”
Cameron Tenwalde (12)
“... Chris Paul, hands down.
He in my opinion, shares the
ball and leads his team better
than anyone. He makes me
happy to be alive.”
Trevor Camanse (12)
“...Shaquille O’Neal
because he is an animaland little guards would be
terrified. I love his clutch
free throws.”
Jared Beaudoing (12)
“... Russell Westbrook.
He slams that ball like
no other, he’s explosive
and an upcomingplayer in the league.
He dunks on fools!”
