Elvis Presley’s Childhood & Family BackgroundSon of Vernon and Gladys Presley, who had a twin pregnancy though, Jesse Aaron Presley, died at birth, so Elvis grew up as an only child. His family was moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, where he graduated in 1953 at the Humes High SchoolHe grew up in a poor but religious home which was typical of the deep south of the united estates.

In 1946 Presley received his first guitar.

In 1945 he made his first public performance. At ten he first sang in public at a regional contest in which he won the second award. He came second, winning $5 and a free ticket to the Fair rides.

Elvis began to grow his sideburns longer and dress in the wild, flashy clothes.He started working quite early in his life.

They married on the 1st of May in 1967 in Las Vegas.

On the 1st of February their only child Lisa Marie (now 45, a singer) was born, exactly nine months after the wedding (!).

Elvis and Priscilla (now 67, an actress, a businesswoman) met in 1959.

She was 14 at the time they met, while he was 24

On the 16th of August in 1977 “The King” was found dead at his home “Graceland”. He was only 42 years old.

In 1977 Elvis Presley gave his final performance in Indiana.

On the 6th of August Elvis sang with friends for the last time.
