He was born on January 8th 1935,  in  East  Tupelo, Mississipi

His family was moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, where he graduated in 1953 at the Humes High SchoolHe grew up in a poor but religious home which was typical of the deep south of the united estates.

In 1946 Presley received his first guitar.

In 1945 he made his first public performance. At ten he first sang in public at a regional contest in which he won the second award. He came second, winning $5 and a free ticket to the Fair rides.

Elvis began to grow his sideburns longer and dress in the wild, flashy clothes.He started working quite early in his life.

He first earned dollar as cinema usher and a truck driver electricity company. In 1953 he entered the studio of Sun Records, a local

label modest, and recorded an album to give to his mother that cost $ 4. For a birthday present – 2 songs “My Happiness” and “That’s

Early Fame

His influences were country gospel music he heard in church and musical

marathons to those who came regularly and black music of R & B he

absorbed on historic Beale Street..

Neither he reached sufficient impact but its spread was enough for Elvis decided to quit his job and start a career as a professional musician.

In early 1956 he came to Nashville to work with musicians from the city and that collaboration would be born its first quality songs, one of them "Heartbreak Hotel" reach number one on the charts

The musical western “Love Me Tender” (1956), his first movie,

was panned by the critics but did well at the box office.

Elvis Presley starred in 31 successful films, made

history with his scandalous television appearances and

specials.

In 1958 he had to join the army. But he continued

recording hits and being in the public’s eye.

Fellow soldiers admitted Presley's down-to-earth

nature and his generosity while in service.

Presley began gathering around him his stepbrothers, friends, employees, and hangers on that would become known as the “Memphis Mafia” and would accompany him almost constantly.

They married on the 1st of May in 1967 in Las Vegas.

On the 1st of February their only child Lisa Marie (now 45, a singer) was born, exactly nine months after the wedding (!).

Elvis and Priscilla (now 67, an actress, a businesswoman) met in 1959.

She was 14 at the time they met, while he was 24

On the 16th of August in 1977 “The King” was found dead at his home “Graceland”. He was only 42 years old.

In 1977 Elvis Presley gave his final performance in Indiana.

On the 6th of August Elvis sang with friends for the last time.
