2. Camera Equipment
The camera we used to film our sequence is a Sony HD camera which is shown to the left of the document. The HD stands for hard drive not high definition so the quality could have been alot better but the only HD cameras available are kept in the studio, which were not available for us to loan out so are not a practical piece of equipment to use with the time period we were working with. however this hard drive camera was always available for us to use which is exactly what we needed. As you can see its not very advanced so wasnt difficult to use and adapt settings to exactly what we wanted to ensure we got the best quality for each of our shots. But the only weakness to this is that it isn't a high definition camera which means it give us adequate quality but working with the actual HD cameras in the studio would have give alot more of a professional finish to the clips. We also used a tripod for some specific parts of our sequence because we needed them to be very still and in deep focus which ensures the best quality possible. however sometimes placing the tripod in specific places caused it to fall over right in the middle of a scene which took us alot longer to capture a perfect sequence.

3. Problems in filming process
The problems we did face when filming were very minor and were easily worked around but mentioning them in this question is still appropriate. As our group of actors were personal friends of ours and are not actually from our class it was hard to work out specific meeting times to film each part of the sequence as we all have different free periods due to our study blocks, so we mainly used dinner times to film as we could then all be together as a group. Also getting the actual equipment together as well as the actors was a nightmare because you are only allowed equipment out for a specific time period and whenever we got the group together nothing was available for us to use. So we had to re think shooting when everyone could meet up and we could get what we needed from the camera store.Because we started filming in January it was still winter so the weather was always un certain and some days we were all ready to film the cloudy grey skies didnt link to our sunny spring beginning so meant we had to keep re scheduling and just wait for a sunny day to come which again meant we had to hope the actors were available as well as the equipment we needed.
But after all of these problems were dealt with the filming moved on quickly and we managed to get it all done in a fast period of time.
4. New equipment used
After planning on what equipment would be best for us to use throughout our sequence we then thought how we could adapt them to make it look more professional. We decided to film one of our main scenes of our victim being tied up by the villain in the TV studio because we had the chance to use more developed equipment such as studio lights and a backdrop to add to the dark and chilling atmosphere we wanted to give off. We had to book time in the studio but this wasnt as hard as booking out a camera as its rarely used, it meant we had the full space to work with and show off our skills with the range of technologically developed equipment which were all of a lot better quality than the normal hard drive camera and tripod which was of a minimal quality to the tension we wanted to add.
5. Editing I Movie
After putting all of the clips onto our desktop we firstly open them separately into a simple program called I Movie which means you can put them into a timeline of the way they ran and also add some effects to each one as they go on and off the screen which are not the things we needed for our horror convention sequence, as I believe the tension is created through the sound you use and the sequence just works around that. After cropping each clip to exactly how long we needed it to be and changing the contrast of colours to add the suspense and tension we then released that it was too much of a simple program to use especially if we wanted to make ourfilm look more professional as it didnt give us the independent editing skills we wanted to use, but did work well when putting the sequence in order because it was easy to understand.
6. Editing LiveType
After putting all of our clips in order we then decided to concentrate on the titles of each of the actors and the actual title of our film because we wanted them to link into our genre of film we didnt want to create them on a normal word document as this wouldnt of added to the overall effect of the horror convention so instead using live type give us a wide range of different titles and colours to choose from which we got inspiration from the film orphan when the titles look as though the have been quickly sketched down and we thought it looked really intense and added to the tension of the overall storyline.
7. Editing Final Cut
As I talked about earlier after putting all of our sequence together in the simple I movie program we thought it would be more professional to use a more developed editing software which is when final cut came in. I believe it gives us more independence and confidence to show the skills we have learnt throughout the academic year and put them to good use. This program is hard to deal with at first because of the large range of different settings you can use but its much more professional even in the way you can cut down different scenes and add in sounds at the same time. Final cut however does take a lot longer to work out and in our situation we did have to re cut every scene to link back together as we lost all of the work we did on I movie so for future reference I woulddefinitely do any editing of the sequence and overall presentation of the sequence in final cut because its a lot more advanced and makes us as students look a lot more professional in the way we produce the film.

9. Editing - Sound
Garage band is a program a lot of people in the class have used to create sounds and a final soundtrack for their sequence but because we tried to create one and didnt know how to use it as no one in our group has seen it before we decided instead of wasting time we would just find copyright free sound effects to add to our sequence which we both believed linked in well to the suspense and tension we wanted to create. Both main sound effects are of a girl with a very eerie and distinctive sound which we thought will be remembered but also shock viewers which links back to the modern traditional convention.
As you can see garage band has lots of options to choose from and we didnt know how to use it so took another outlook on a sound program.
I Tunes above looks a lot more simple which made it easier for us to pick sounds and overall they were more effective to the convention.
