PASTOR1S CORNERIhope you had a pleasant and peaceful summer and had a chance for some

vacation time to be renewed in soul and body. With the beginning of a new "parishyear," our school and many parish activities, programs and ministries are about toburst into full bloom. Ihope yau can get involved in some ways that will benefit ourparish community and yourself.

Saturday evening, September 10, will be the celebration of our parish feast day - thefeast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. After the 4:30 PM Mass, there will be anAll-American Hot Dog Dinner and a social in our Parish Hall. All are welcome I Thisis a wonderful opportunity to thank Our Lordfor His saving death on the Cross and

fa celebrate our friendship as a parish family.

rOlf Cross Church has been selected by the Archdiocese as one of the sites to celebrate this ExtraordinaryJuMee Year of Mercy. On our parish feast day, Wednesday, September 14, the Feast of the Holy Cross, therewr1Jbe a Holy Hourfrom 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM that includes Scripture .. the Divine Mercy Chaplet a Litany of theSacred Heart and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Everyone is invited to come and rejoice in God'sgreat mercy and be empowered to share His mercy with others.

I've always believed that knowledge and understanding of Sacred Scripture - the Bible, is very important forCatholics. We Catholics tend to center our spiritual life on the Holy Eucharist, Confession, and daily prayer-as we should! But St. Jerome reminds us: "Ignoranc.e.of Scriplure is ignorance of Christ." Tosustain, nourish,af'd hie our faith in our daily lives with all of its challenges and opportunities, we need to study and knowScrY:;:Ure- which a/ang with the teaching of the Church, gives us the fullness of the truth of Jesus.
