1. Leg Up Farm Donation On December 14, 2018, Tara Houser, Vice President of Marketing and Lisa Barshinger, Community Engagement Officer, presented a check for $475.00 to Leg Up Farm as part of our First Cap Gives Back program.

2. Adopt-a-Family First Capital employees adopted a family from the Bell Family Shelter over the holidays. And, on December 24, 2018, the family stopped by First Capital to express their appreciation and to accept their presents.

3. Girl Scouts Badge On February 19, 2019, First Capital staff helped Girl Scout Troop #20726 earn their Budgeting Badge.

4. York County SPCA Donation – On December 21, 2018, First Capital donated pet supplies and money collected at the holiday party to the York County SPCA.

5. National Wear Red Day First Capital staff wore red on February 1, 2019 in recognition of National Wear Red Day. The Go Red movement was designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.

6. United Way Donation On Monday, December 17, 2018, First Capital’s President/CEO Sue DeStephano; and HR Manager Michele Wherley, presented a check for $6,750.00 to the United Way of York County’s Bob Bentley as part of the First Cap Gives Back program

7. Hat & Mitten Donation On March 7, 2019, Lisa Barshinger, Community Engagement Officer, delivered a box of hats and mittens to Dr. Davies at the West York School District. In December, Lisa also delivered a box to the Children’s Home of York. The cold weather gear was collected in all 3 branches over the holidays.

8. Credit Health Check-Up On March 7, 2019, First Capital held a Credit Health Check-Up, Protect Your Identity event at the West York Office. Members came in to review their credit reports and check for fraud.

celebrating another milestone this year… 30 years in the

credit union industry. Wow! Time does fly when you are

Thirty years ago, I was working in a local retail store when

I was recruited to work for York Tracktown Employees

Credit Union, which was the credit union that served the

employees and their families from Caterpillar and other

local companies. At the time, I had no idea what a credit

union was, but I accepted the job which ended up being a

life-changing decision and would become my career.

After working as a Loan Officer at York Tracktown for ten

years, we merged into First Capital in 1999. The merger with First Capital opened new opportunities for me in

various management roles. I like to say that I grew up in

the credit union industry and could not imagine doing anything else.

Time. Who’d like more of it?! Tom, Olga, and Joan were looking for time and simplicity, and they found it with our digital services. Here’s what they discovered:

Tom absolutely despises paying bills. Some of his payments were set up for automatic withdrawal, and he visited six different websites to make the others. When a biller withdrew funds five days early and overdrew his account, that was the last straw. Tom switched to our FREE Bill Pay and loves it. Now all of his payees are in one place, and – because Tom selects the withdraw date – he knows exactly when funds will leave his account.

Olga uses her phone for everything… that includes taking lots of pictures. But until recently she was driving 20 minutes just to deposit small checks! One day, she walked into the branch with phone in hand, showing off her grandchildren. Olga shared that - while she enjoys visiting branch staff - she wished there were an easier way to deposit checks. Joan likes the email notification she receives when a new document is available for viewing, and she’s reclaimed space in her file cabinet.
