Question: 1 A TCP/IP transfer is diagrammed in the exhibit.

A window size of three has been negotiated for this transfer. Which message will be returned from the receiver to the sender as part of this TCP/IP transfer? A. Send ACK 1-3 B. Send ACK 3 C. Send ACK 4 D. Send ACK 4-6 E. Send ACK 6 F. Send ACK 7

Answer: C Explanation In response, the receiver replies with an ACK. The acknowledgment number is set to one more than the received sequence number. The ACK means “I have got all messages up to sequence number n-1 so please send me the message for sequence number n”.

Explanation: To remember which type of cable you should use, follow these tips: - To connect two serial interfaces of 2 routers we use serial cable – To specify when we use crossover cable or straight-through cable, we should remember: Group 1: Router, Host, Server Group 2: Hub, Switch One device in group 1 + One device in group 2: use straight-through cable Two devices in the same group: use crossover cable For example: we use straight-through cable to connect switch to router, switch to host, hub to host, hub to server… and we use crossover cable to connect switch to switch, switch to hub, router to router, host to host… )

Question: 4 DRAG DROP

Answer:

Explanation: The question asks us to “begin with the lowest layer” so we have to begin with Layer 1: verify physical connection; in this case an Ethernet cable connection. For your information, “verify Ethernet cable connection” means that we check if the type of connection (crossover, straight-

through, rollover…) is correct, the RJ45 headers are plugged in, the signal on the cable is acceptable… Next we “verify NIC operation”. We do this by simply making a ping to the loopback interface 127.0.0.1. If it works then the NIC card (layer 1,2) and TCP/IP stack (layer 3) are working properly. Verify IP configuration belongs to layer 3. For example, checking if the IP can be assignable for host, the PC’s IP is in the same network with the gateway… Verifying the URL by typing in your browser some popular websites like google.com, microsoft.com to assure that the far end server is not down (it sometimes make we think we can’t access to the Internet). We are using a URL so this step belongs to layer 7 of the OSI model.

Question: 5 Refer to the exhibit.

Host A pings interface S0/0 on router 3. What is the TTL value for that ping? A. 252 B. 253 C. 254 D. 255

Answer: B Explanation From the CCNA ICND2 Exam book: “Routers decrement the TTL by 1 every time they forward a packet; if a router decrements the TTL to 0, it throws away the packet. This prevents packets from rotating forever.” I want to make it clear that before the router forwards a packet, the TTL is still remain the same. For example in the topology above, pings to S0/1 and S0/0 of Router 2 have the same TTL.

Whereas switches can only examine and forward packets based on the contents of the MAC header, routers can look further into the packet to discover the network for which a packet is destined. Routers make forwarding decisions based on the packet's network-layer header (such as an IPX header or IP header). These network-layer headers contain source and destination network addresses. Local devices address packets to the router's MAC address in the MAC header. After receiving the packets, the router must perform the following steps: 1. Check the incoming packet for corruption, and remove the MAC header . The router checks the packet for MAC-layer errors. The router then strips off the MAC header and examines the network-layer header to determine what to do with the packet. 2. Examine the age of the packet. The router must ensure that the packet has not come too far to be forwarded. For example, IPX headers contain a hop count. By default, 15 hops is the maximum number of hops (or routers) that a packet can cross. If a packet has a hop count of 15, the router discards the packet. IP headers contain a Time to Live (TTL) value. Unlike the IPX hop count, which increments as the packet is forwarded through each router, the IP TTL value decrements as the IP packet is forwarded through each router. If an IP packet has a TTL value of 1, the router discards the packet. A router cannot decrement the TTL value to 1 and then forward the packet. 3. Determine the route to the destination. Routers maintain a routing table that lists available networks, the direction to the desired network (the outgoing interface number), and the distance to those networks. After determining which direction to forward the packet, the router must build a new header. (If you want to read the IP routing tables on a Windows 95/98 workstation, type ROUTE PRINT in the DOS box.) 4. Build the new MAC header and forward the packet. Finally, the router builds a new MAC header for the packet. The MAC header includes the router's MAC address and the final destination's MAC address or the MAC address of the next router in the path.

Question: 15 At which layer of the OSI model does PPP perform? A. Layer 2 B. Layer 4 C. Layer 5 D. Layer 3

Answer: A

Question: 16 Which router IOS commands can be used to troubleshoot LAN connectivity problems? (Choose three.) A. winipcfg B. tracert C. ping D. ip config E. show ip route F. show interfaces

Answer: C, E, F Explanation: While all of the above commands are useful in gathering network information and troubleshooting, only choices C, E, and F are Cisco IOS problems, while the other choices are DOS command prompt commands used by windows based stations.

Question: 17 Which two are advantages of static routing when compared to dynamic routing? (Choose two) A. Route summarization is computed automatically by the router B. Routing traffic load is reduced when used in stub network links C. Routing updates are automatically sent to neighbors

Page 14: 640-802 Cisco Certification Score Training

D. Security increases because only the network administrator may change the routing table E. Configuration complexity decreases as network size increases F. An efficient algorithm is used to build routing tables, using automatic updates G. Routing tables adapt automatically to topology changes.

Answer: B, D

Question: 18 Refer to the graphic. Computer 1 is consoles into switch A. Telnet connections and pings run from the command prompt on switch A fail. Which of the following could cause this problem?

A. switch A dose not have a cdp entry for switch B or router JAX B. Switch A does not have an IP address. C. port 1 on switch A should be an access port rather than a trunk port D. switch A is not directly connected to router JAX E. switch A does not have a default gateway assigned

Answer: B Explanation It’s a hard question to answer although it looks simple! From the output above we are sure that switch A does not have an IP address (on both Fa0/1 and on VLAN 1) so it can not ping or telnet to any other device -> . Another answer seems to be correct is answer E – switch A does not have a default gateway assigned. We know that Switch A can not telnet to other device outside its subnet without having a default gateway. But the question only says “Telnet connections and pings run from the command prompt on switch A fail” without telling us where Switch A is trying to telnet or ping to. If it tries to

Page 15: 640-802 Cisco Certification Score Training

http://www.certifyguide.com/exam/640-802/ Page15

connect to the outside network then . If it only want to connect to a device inside its subnet then a default gateway is not necessary. So the best answer for this question is B!

Question: 19 Which two statements are characteristics of a distance vector routing protocol? (Choose two) A. RIP is an example of distance vector routing protocols. B. Updates are periodic and include the entire routing table. C. Routing updates are sent only after topology changes D. The protocol can be useful in hub-and-spoke and hierarchical networks. E. Convergence is usually faster than with link state protocols F. Each router has its own view of the topology

Answer: A, B

Question: 20 Which of the following protocols uses both TCP and UDP ports? A. SMTP B. Telnet C. FTP D. DNS

Answer: D Explanation DNS can use either the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) or Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) with a destination port of 53. Note: +Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is specified for mail transport and uses TCP port 25. + Telnet uses TCP on port 23. + File Transfer Protocol (FTP) uses TCP on port 20, 21. + Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) uses UDP on port 69. + HTTP Secure (HTTPS) uses TCP on port 443.

Question: 21 In which circumstance are multiple copies of the same unicast frame likely to be transmitted in a switched LAN? A. after broken links are re-established B. in an improperly implemented redundant topology C. when upper-layer protocols require high reliability D. during high traffic periods E. when a dual ring topology is in use

Answer: B Explanation If we connect two switches via 2 or more links and do not enable STP on these switches then a loop (which creates multiple copies of the same unicast frame) will occur. It is an example of an improperly implemented redundant topology.

Question: 22 Refer to the graphic.

A host is connected to switch port Fa0/3 with a crossover cable. The host and switch have as shown. However, the port indicator on switch port Fa0/3 is not on, and the host cannot communicate with to VLAN2 on the same switch. Based on the information given, what is the problem? A. The switch has been assigned an incorrect subnet mask. B. Switch port FA0/3 is not configured as a trunk port C. Switch port FA0/3 has been blocked by STP D. The switch and the hosts must be in the same subnet E. The cable is the wrong type

Answer: E
