FAST FACTSAY 2017-2018
Gulf Medical University (GMU) was established in 1998 in the Gulf region, specialized in the full spectrum of Health Professionals’ Education. The Founder President, Mr. Thumbay Moideen believes that nothing is nobler than saving and improving health.
The University was initiated as the medical college and expanded to a University with four distinguished colleges; Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Health Sciences. It provides globally recognized high quality academic programs in Medical Sciences with dynamic curriculum that fosters student centered learning, critical thinking, teamwork and life-long learning. GMU has students from 80 countries and admit 350 students each year in different specialties.
GMU has its own teaching hospitals, institutes, clinics, labs and pharmacies in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and India. Apart from these sites, clinical training for GMU students has been arranged at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital of Ajman, UAQ Hospital of Umm Al Quwain, Mafraq Hospital of Abu Dhabi and Thumbay Medical and Dental Centre of Sharjah.
The University has recently developed its 2022 strategic plan, putting research and innovation as the top its strategic goals. The Thumbay Institute of Precision Medicine and Translational Research is currently leading the research in cancer, diabetics, stem cells and drug discovery.
