ATLAS• Designed to take

advantage of the unprecedented energy available at the LHC (up to 14 TeV)

• The Standard Model may break down at energies beyond the current energy frontier of about one teraelectronvolt (TeV) (set at the Tevatron)

• Rather than focusing on a particular physical process, ATLAS is designed to measure the broadest possible range of signals.

EXPERIMENT

Vector Boson Scattering was recently witnessed for the first time

• W± W± + j j l± ν l± ν + j j (best chance at witnessing VBS)• Current results from two protons colliding at 4 TeV each • Simulations of future runs will probe at 7 TeV per proton

Anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings (aQGC)

• Gauge: W bosons• Quartic: Four vector boson vertex• Anomalous: may couple to new-physics terms at high

energies

Probe the Lagrangian for new physics terms beyond the SM at High Energies (14 TeV)
