Hydrosmart owner Paul Pearce said its products could deal with bore water, river water, town and mains water and were designed to treat scale, corrosion, salinity and iron. "Hydrosmart offers a water solution for most properties from helping to drought proof outback sta- tions to making crop success a reality," Mr Pearce said. "We research, develop and manufacture our original 100 per cent Australian products to deal with water quality problems all over the country as well as overseas. "Hydrosmart is the leading industry water conditioner and is trusted by agricultural, industrial and domestic customers alike for solving scale, salinity and iron problems." Its water treatment prod- ucts are designed to treat scale, corrosion, salinity and iron, Mr Pearce said. "Instead of forming as scale better dissolved minerals pass into down- stream applications without building up in pipes, soil, fine sprays or drippers and plants are able to take up activated water more readily so growth is improved," he said. "Scientific trials showed easier hydration on both treated versus un- treated bore water carrying nutrient mix. "Even rainwater treated versus untreated showed better crop yields in a lettuce trial with more weight being recorded." Hydrosmart's benefits extended beyond improve- ments to water quality. A company spokesman said the Hydrosmart process did not produce wastewater and used only five watts of power to produce the neces- sary electromagnetic fields and resonance frequencies, meaning no huge electricity bills or it can run on solar if required very simply. "ese units are simple to install and are totally maintenance free," Mr Pearce said. "With its three metres of contact with water it produces outcomes that are quite remarkable once water is activated allowing 100pc of the flow to be used. "e water conditioner improves all water sustaina- bly for decades - whether it is being used in a domestic setting for lawns and gardens, or on a large-scale crop farm all for a one-off purchase price without need of any filters or consuma- bles, just a normal 10 amp power point or solar panel and battery. "e products also improve stock health when bore water is high in salt and minerals. Hydrosmart conditions the water back to a more palatable level and assists animals to better metabolise nutrients in their gut for healthier growth and overall quality, and is used on many types of stock from chooks to cattle, sheep and horses." Recent feedlot trials showed 15pc more weight gain just using treated water over six weeks. Nathan Keogh, station manager at the Innamincka Cattle Station, SA, is a fan. He successfully used Hydrosmart to prevent scale and algae in stock troughs in late 2018, admitting he was "amazed" how Hydro- smart halted a build-up up of hard, salty scale in the troughs filled from a "problematic bore" and how well cattle responded to the improved water. "Cattle seem content (and) I do believe the unit I have is doing something. It has amazed me how it has stopped the salty calcium on the cattle troughs." Mr Keogh wrote in a letter to Hydrosmart. "Seems to have halted the rust somewhat and like I said the troughs are now much softer to clean." Mr Pearce said Hydro- smart products had been installed in homesteads, farms, agribusinesses and factories across Australia, including Uluru National Park, Kidmans, RioTinto, BHP, Tatura Milk, d'Aren- berg Wines and Wild Duck Creek Wines. Some mining camps such as Newman, Port Headland, West Angelas, Mt Isa and PNG have also derived ben- efits from the Hydrosmart technology, he claimed. "We had an instance where chemicals were being used for de-watering at a gold mine that handled two megalitres of water in its system per day," he said. "e 110 millimetre pipe, which carried a mineral load of 29,000 parts per million, was scaled to a thickness of 15mm. Chemicals weren't doing the job and scaling was getting worse. "e supervisor reported installation of a Hydrosmart system not only prevented any additional build-up of scale, but actually removed the existing 15mm of scale such that the pipe was back to a bare black poly pipe." Hydrosmart has also been used in minerals processing in which crushed heaps were irrigated with a cyanide solution to leach silver into solution.
