Jackrabbits battle Eads in 6-man football game The Tribune Jackrabbits battled the Eads Eagles in a 6-man football game played at Tribune on Friday, September 10. Tribune fell behind the Eagles early in the game and trailed 7-27 with 3:15 remaining in the half. But rather than caving in the Jackrabbits upped their game and outscored the Eagles by two touchdowns through the remainder of the game. “The boys showed a lot of heart in a close loss to a very physical Eads team,” remarked Tribune coach Kyle Finder. “They had plenty of chances to get down on themselves when things weren’t going our way but they battled back every time and competed until the last snap. I couldn’t be more proud of the effort and determination that they showed. I feel that even though the scoreboard wasn’t in our favor, we could walk out of that game with our heads up knowing that we left it all on the field.” Playing for Tribune were seniors Cade Mangan, Danny Knelsen and Jesus Martinez; juniors, Titus Sherer, Jariath Yanez, Bobby Rayas, and Robert Ferguson; sophomores, JoshValenzuela, and Josh Votruba; and freshmen Lincoln Shafer, Max Whitham, Brodey Grubb, Elian Sherer, and Henry Wright. Tribune took the opening kickoff at their 35-yard line and moved on runs by Jariath Yanez and Jesus Martinez to a first down at the 18. Tribune lost the ball on downs at their own 8-yard line. Eads scored in a 6-play drive on a 25 yard pass from Ty Wilson Donte Sierra. The PAT run was good and Eads led 7-0. Tribune had 3 downs and a punt to give the ball back to the Eagles who moved down the field to score on the first play of the second quarter for a 14-0 lead. After an exchange on downs the Jackrabbits scored on a 57 yard run by Martinez. The PAT run by Cade Mangan made the score 7-14. Eads scored from 2-yards out after a long pass from Bo Arnold to Stockton Mitchek. The PAT run made it 7-21 with 4:30 remaining in the half. The Jackrabbits were forced to kick and the Eagles scored on a 34-yard pass and led 27-7. The Jackrabbits came back to score on the last play of the first half on a 2-yard run by Martinez for a 13-27 score at the half. Tribune scored to open the second half on a pass from Mangan to Martinez to make it 19-27. The teams traded scores early in the 3 rd quarter before Mangan hit Titus Scherer on a 27-yard td pass. The PAT made it 26-34 with 6:30 remaining in the 3 rd quarter. Knelsen recovered an Eagle fumble, but the Jackrabbits were forced to punt and the Eagles scored at the first of the 4 th quarter to lead 40-26. A Sherer to Yanez td pass and a PAT made the score 33-40. The Eagles began a ground game with their big fullback and scored for a 46- 33 lead. A Mangan to Max Whitham pass brought the Jackrabbits back to 40-52. The Eagle continued with the ground game for their final score to lead 52-40. But a Mangan to Yanez pass for 24 yards made the final score 46-52. Statistics for the Jackrabbit follow. Jackrabbits battle Eads in 6-man football game

The Tribune Jackrabbits battled the Eads Eagles in a 6-man football game played at Tribune on Friday, September 10.

Tribune fell behind the Eagles early in the game and trailed 7-27 with 3:15 remaining in the half. But rather than caving in the Jackrabbits upped their game and outscored the Eagles by two touchdowns through the remainder of the game.

“The boys showed a lot of heart in a close loss to a very physical Eads team,” remarked Tribune coach Kyle Finder. “They had plenty of chances to get down on themselves when things weren’t going our way but they battled back every time and competed until the last snap. I couldn’t be more proud of the effort and determination that they showed. I feel that even though the scoreboard wasn’t in our favor, we could walk out of that game with our heads up knowing that we left it all on the field.”

Playing for Tribune were seniors Cade Mangan, Danny Knelsen and Jesus Martinez; juniors, Titus Sherer, Jariath Yanez, Bobby Rayas, and Robert Ferguson; sophomores, Josh Valenzuela, and Josh Votruba; and freshmen Lincoln Shafer, Max Whitham, Brodey Grubb, Elian Sherer, and Henry Wright.

Tribune took the opening kickoff at their 35-yard line and moved on runs by Jariath Yanez and Jesus Martinez to a first down at the 18. Tribune lost the ball on downs at their own 8-yard line. Eads scored in a 6-play drive on a 25 yard pass from Ty Wilson Donte Sierra. The PAT run was good and Eads led 7-0.

Tribune had 3 downs and a punt to give the ball back to the Eagles who moved down the field to score on the first play of the second quarter for a 14-0 lead.

After an exchange on downs the Jackrabbits scored on a 57 yard run by Martinez. The PAT run by Cade Mangan made the score 7-14.

Eads scored from 2-yards out after a long pass from Bo Arnold to Stockton Mitchek. The PAT run made it 7-21 with 4:30 remaining in the half.

The Jackrabbits were forced to kick and the Eagles scored on a 34-yard pass and led 27-7.

The Jackrabbits came back to score on the last play of the first half on a 2-yard run by Martinez for a 13-27 score at the half.

Tribune scored to open the second half on a pass from Mangan to Martinez to make it 19-27.

The teams traded scores early in the 3rd quarter before Mangan hit Titus Scherer on a 27-yard td pass. The PAT made it 26-34 with 6:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Knelsen recovered an Eagle fumble, but the Jackrabbits were forced to punt and the Eagles scored at the first of the 4th quarter to lead 40-26.

A Sherer to Yanez td pass and a PAT made the score 33-40.

The Eagles began a ground game with their big fullback and scored for a 46-33 lead.

A Mangan to Max Whitham pass brought the Jackrabbits back to 40-52. The Eagle continued with

the ground game for their final score to lead 52-40. But a Mangan to Yanez pass for 24 yards made the final score 46-52.
