Taste of Cincinnati®, presented by Kroger and produced by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, will feature 34

restaurants and 19 food trucks at the May 25-27 event. The event, which opens at 11 a.m. each day, will showcase close to 300 Cincinnati-made menu items along with a wide variety of beers and diverse entertainment. Taste of Cincinnati will be held on Fifth Street from Main to the ramps of I-71 and Columbia Parkway.

The nation’s longest running free culinary arts festival, is also adding the Eat & Run 5K to its menu, Sunday, May 26, 10 a.m. The start and finish line for the inaugural run and walk will be at Sentinel and Culvert Streets in downtown Cincinnati. Registration is now open at www.TasteofCincinnati.com.

“As the Taste of Cincinnati festival continues to evolve and innovate through food, drinks and entertainment, we’re proud to add what we know

will become a new Cincinnati tradition, the Eat & Run 5K. We may even cook up a few surprises along the route,” said Cynthia Oxley, director of Taste of Cincinnati.

Eat & Run 5K participants will receive a commemorative medal, t-shirt, and a complimen-tary beverage at Taste of Cincinnati. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in the men’s and women’s categories.

Additionally, Taste of Findlay Market will return to Taste of Cincinnati. The specialty section will feature nearly two dozen rotating food vendors from Cincinnati’s Findlay Market and “foodpreneurs” from their food business incubator, Findlay Kitchen, will serve delicious fresh-prepared “bites.”

Born in 1979, Taste of Cincinnati enjoyed a record-tying crowd of 550,000 in 2018.

Asian Food Fest, presented by Kroger and produced by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber in partnership with the Asian

American Cultural Association of Cincinnati is set to happen at a new and expanded site, Saturday, May 11, noon-10 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, noon-8 p.m., on Freedom Way, between Elm and Walnut Streets, at the Banks. Fans of Asian Food Fest will enjoy a mouthwatering tour of Asian foods, in the form of small plates, priced from $2 -$6. The event is free and open to the public.

Additionally, “Secret Menu” items will again be available at Asian Food Fest. The term “secret menu” comes from a frequent practice at many Asian restau-rants in America. These establishments often have a secret menu available only upon request. The menu features more traditional and authentic Asian dishes.

“As Cincinnati’s Asian food scene continues to expand, Asian Food Fest is evolving and staying ahead of pace,” said Bao Nguyen of the Asian American

Cultural Association of Cincinnati. “This is our ninth production of Asian Food Fest, and we’re proud to have created a new and continuously growing Cincin-nati tradition.”

Other vendors and the SkyStar observation wheel will also operate throughout Asian Food Fest weekend. SkyStar provides unique views of downtown Cincinnati, Covington, the Ohio River and the Roebling Suspension Bridge. It features more than one million LED lights. Each of the 36 gondolas is enclosed, climate controlled and can hold up to six passengers. Skystar offers a private experience and riders are not paired with strangers. The SkyStar experience consists of four revolutions and lasts ap-proximately 12 minutes.

Asian Food Fest celebrates the culture, cuisine, entertainment and drinks of Asian communities including Cambodia, China, Hawaii, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Learn more at www.asianfoodfest.org.

Husband and wife team, hospitality veter-ans, and lifelong Northern Kentuckians, Matt Haws (Co-Founder of Grandview

Tavern & Grille) and Kathleen Haws are proud to announce the opening of Ripple Wine Bar. Passionate about creating experiences, Matt and Kathleen believe their establishment fills a much-needed gap in Covington’s growing landscape of entertainment and dining options.

Ripple is a laid-back wine bar featuring a rotating list of curated vintages and a seasonal small-plate menu. The kitchen is under the directions of Chef Will Smith, a Covington native. The bar, which is just around the corner from Madison Avenue, will also serve local brews and spirits. Their goal is to create a neighborhood gathering place that promotes wine’s approach-ability through education and tasting.

“We invested in a temperature-controlled cruvinet system to allow our guests the ability to taste more wine without ever compromising its quality.” Says Matt. “With our cruvinet, we are

able host more than 40 wines in house and offer each of them as a half glass pour, full glass, half bottle or full bottle.” Kathleen adds.

Matt and Kathleen hope Ripple encourages more people to enjoy life, share experiences, and appreciate the beauty of wine. The name of the bar is inspired by one their favorite songs (not one of their favorite beverages). As the poet, Rob-ert Hunter, writes, “reach out your hand if your cup be empty. If your cup is full may it be again.”

The Ripple Team worked with Orleans Devel-opment on the renovation of the nearly 100-year old space at 4 West Pike Street, and sought to incorporate much of the original architectural elements.

Ripple Wine Bar is open from 4 - 11 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 4 PM until 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, with availability for private events on Sundays. They will accept reservations for their second-floor seating area as well as private events.
