• Government agreement on 20.07.04• Proposes measures to promote the
cooperation and to create collective tools• Creates a monitoring commission formed by
the Departments of- Culture- Education- Universities, Research and Information

Measures of the Government Agreement
• To promote cooperation:- Libraries gathered in networks- Coordinated selection of automated systems- Cooperative licensing of e-information
• To strengthen and/or to create collective tools:- Union catalogue of Catalonia- Library services on a national basis
- Loan- Storage of low use books
Joint ILS tender
• Participating libraries- Universities- National Library- Public libraries- Open to other libraries
• Benefits: - To create a users’ community in Catalonia - To ease the creation of common library services- Search for economy of scale

Main conclusions of the study:
• Important consortium profit:32,22% of downloaded articles come from
e-journals not previously subscribed at any CBUC library
• Use dispersion:35% of journals answer the 80% of the
information needs• In general, the conclusions are very near to
other international studies in this area

• E-TOC database of the journals subscribed at CBUC libraries (and they’re at CCUC)
• Over 6 millions of articles, 12.000 journals• Open access • 14% of the table of contents are introduced by the CBUC
libraries (the others come from a subscription agent and UCM, ULR)
• Links to the CBUC record and to the full-text (if the journal has a consortium license)

Catalan scholarly journals portal: RACO
• Open access portal to spread and improve the visibility of the catalan scholarly journals (about 300)
• Now 40 full-text journals• Full-text open access • Project supported economically by the Catalan
government• Working methods similar to TDR

• Portal to improve visibility for research papers created at the Catalan universities (working papers, preprints, reports, etc.)
