Thursday 7th June 2018 Paid Union Meeting for Teachers. Dear Parents/Caregivers, You may be aware of the nationwide crisis in recruiting and retaining teachers. While there are many more children coming into the school system, there are not enough new teachers being trained. Urgent and significant changes are needed to ensure that the teaching profession can attract the people it needs and to ensure class sizes do not start to increase. On Tuesday the 19th of June, the teachers from this school will be attending a NZEI Te Riu Roa paid union meeting regarding the Kua Tae Te Wā - It’s Time campaign. The campaign aims to free teachers to teach and Principals to lead, by getting the additional support and staff that schools need. The meetings will allow our teachers to discuss how the Ministry of Education has responded to changes that the union is seeking. Our teaching staff are members of NZEI and legally entitled to attend this meeting. The teachers will be leaving school on Tuesday the 19th of June, to attend their paid union meeting which starts at 2pm. I strongly encourage parents to make arrangements to pick their children up from school by 1.30pm on Tuesday the 19th of June. A notice will be coming home soon. If you are able to pick your child up by 1.30pm please complete the form and return to school. Students who remain behind will be supervised until 2.50pm the end of our normal school day I appreciate that this creates some inconvenience for families. However, I encourage you to support your teachers as they strive to achieve the changes which will safeguard quality education for all children and ensure we make teaching an attractive profession for graduates. Paid Union Meeting for Teachers.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

You may be aware of the nationwide crisis in recruiting and retaining teachers.

Students who remain behind will be supervised until 2.50pm the end of our normal school day

I appreciate that this creates some inconvenience for families. However, I encourage you to support your teachers as they strive to achieve the changes which will safeguard quality education for all children and ensure we make teaching an attractive profession for graduates.

Anyone who may need help with arrangements should contact the office.

We're going on a Bear Hunt - Junior Production

What a great week of performances we have had. The children have done so well to maintain smiling faces and high energy levels after performing both day and evening shows.

The Awatea and Atatu teachers would like to thank all the Junior students for their hard work and focus to learn the songs and dances involved in the production. You all did such a superb job and we loved seeing you challenge yourselves to perform on stage for the first time.

Thank you also to the parents of our junior students for your support by providing costume items, getting the students to the shows on time and for buying tickets to provide an audience. The profit from tickets goes back into developing and maintaining our performance art resources.

Here are some photos from the shows:

FORREST HILL SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC

We have noticed over the colder days that parents are using the Dental Clinic car park as a drop off point for their children. On occasions there have been no parks for dental patients which means they’ve had to park on the road. We would like to remind parents not use the Dental Clinic car park as a drop off point. This is not a Forrest Hill School car park. Your assistance with this matter is appreciated.
