    After our first trip to Mill Creek in the fall of 2009, we

    had many questions. Following this slide are our

    research findings and ideas for investigations.Do our answers make sense?Have we provided any information that is not

    Oil from cars in the Mill Creek water will be very

    bad for everything alive.

    Investigation Idea:

    Pour some of the stream water (with some

    plant/animal life) into a bucket.

    Pour some car oil into the bucket.

    Wait 10 minutes and see what happens.

    How does oil from cars affect everythingin a stream? At Mill Creek?

    It starts south of Webster Commons Boulevard and North Ponds ParkInvestigation Idea: Follow the stream and find parts of the stream. Drive and follow the

    stream. Take a survey, ask people questions write down the answersand see who's right.

    Danny The stream begins at North Ponds Park and south of Webster

    Commons Boulevard.

    Emma Mill creek ends at the lake but starts right before North Ponds Park and

    a little south of Webster Commons Blvd.

    Ontario by cleaning the debris in

    the water that is flowing into the

    lake. Also theyre a big part of thefood chain in Lake Ontario.

    How do Macroinvertebrates in the stream

    affect the life in the Lake Ontario?

    The macroinvertebrates act as food sources to life in LakeOntario.

    DeviMacros affect the stream because of their population. When

    macros get bigger they move in to lakes like Ontario.

    A lot of the fish that live there would be killed. It

    depends what kind of water life came in. Thespiny water flea is too sharp to swallow. Asian

    carps will eat almost anything. Zebra mussels

    will stick to almost anything. The sea lampreys

    suction cup mouth drains the blood from salmonand trout. The round goby eats a lot of animals.

    How would Lake Ontario be affected if more

    water life came in?
