Asian MBA’s 5th Annual Conference is Proudly Sponsored By

Greetings from CEO & Founder, Asian MBA International (AMBA)

Dear Sponsors, Attendees, and Supporters:

Welcome to the 5th Annual Asian MBA Leadership Conference & Career Expo!

With your continued support, this annual conference has grown to become the largest Asian professional event in the U.S. in just 5 years. This year in particular marks a new and exciting beginning. Over the years, we have learned numerous

valuable lessons and more importantly, we have heard loud and clear what both companies and attendees are looking for. For companies, this event provides not only an opportunity for branding, networking, and leadership development, but also the opportunity to seek and recruit top talent. That is the most significant factor in measur-ing ROI. For attendees, their biggest reason for attending the event is to find the best possible jobs to advance their careers.

Taking these facts to heart, we have made some noteworthy changes to the Asian MBA Leadership Conference & Career Expo. Starting this year, we have decided to merge this event with our longest running recruiting event, the 12th annual Asian Diversity Career Expo, to meet companies’ needs to recruit top undergraduate and graduate students from select universities. We also began the process of redesigning our event to truly concentrate on maximizing the ROI for companies as well as all attendees. In addition to the annual conference, we plan to extend the conversations beyond the event through our brand new website, which features highly sophisticated social media tools to facilitate the engagement of companies with top talent through out the year. As we introduce new and innovative ways for the future, we hope to continuously improve interactions between companies and job seekers. While we have made some significant changes thus far, the real changes have only just begun. As a social venture, Asian Diversity continues to connect world-class companies with the best talent within the Asian and Asian American community. Keep an eye out for our new programs and initiatives in the coming months. Once again, thank you all for coming!

Warmest Regards,

Jino AhnCEO & FounderAsian Diversity Inc.Asian MBA International (AMBA)

Steve L. Robbins, Ph.D. - Chief "What If?" Officer, S.L. Robbins & Associates

A powerful storyteller with a powerful story to tell, Dr. Steve L. Robbins has an unmatched ability to inspire people even in the midst of disrupting and challenging the way they think about the world.

Born in Vietnam, Dr. Robbins immigrated to the United States when he was five years old. He and his mother faced many challenges as Vietnamese immigrants in a new land, during a time when there was much anti-war and anti-Vietnamese sentiment. Working through and rising out of the challenges of poverty, discrimination and the tough streets of Los Angeles, Dr. Robbins now brings insightful perspectives on issues of diversity, inclusion, and the power of caring.

Drawing upon a compelling life journey, his talks and workshops are filled with intrigu-ing stories, laugh-out-loud humor and a keen understanding of human behavior. The

inclusiveness and power of his message are why organizations like Disney, Microsoft, Caterpillar, Boeing, PepsiCo, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, HSBC Bank, NASA, US Navy, Department of Defense, the NSA, Herman Miller, Chevron, and numerous others call on Dr. Robbins to inspire, educate and prepare their people for the exciting challenges of a 21st century world.

A published author and highly requested keynoter, he has presented at numerous conferences and workshops across the nation. His soon-to-be-released “anti-training-training” video learning series, What if? Factory is already receiving pre-launch accolades.

His unique approach to addressing issues of diversity and inclusion challenges and inspires audiences to rethink their own realities and the realities of others. Often praised for his resonating, humorous style, his messages and stories bring a fresh and insightful perspective to the sometimesdreaded subject of diversity. Dr. Robbins’ life experiences have equipped him with an array of useful knowledge that he competently transfers to his audiences. Invariably, those who have heard him walk away motivated not only to think differently, but to behave differently.

Dr. Robbins received his undergraduate degree in Communication from Calvin College and his Masters and Ph.D. in Commu-nication Science from Michigan State University. His background in communication, socio-psychology and cognitive neuroscience drive his work with individuals and organizations – the core of the work is about understanding human behavior in a world full of human differences. He currently resides with his wife and four children in Grand Rapids, MI.

Teach for America 1:00 pm - 1:50 pmPresented by Sarah Ha, Director, Asian American Pacific Islander InitiativesTeach For America is excited to share opportunities about our partnerships with employers and business schools and ways in which you can apply your business professional experience toward positive change for schools in low-income communities. Right now, just 8% of kids growing up in low-income communities graduate college by age 24. You have the power to change this. Teach For America would like to invite you to join a national corps of outstanding business professionals and college graduates—of all majors, backgrounds, and career interests—who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural low-income communities and become lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity. Plenty of business professionals are already leaving the corporate sector to solve this problem. Today, more than 10,000 corps members are teaching in nearly 50 urban and rural regions across the country, while nearly 32,000 alumni work across education sectors to ensure that all children have access to an excellent education. Helen Chan, a 2010 Los Angeles Corps member, will share more about education leadership career paths and her experi-ences of applying her corporate background in the education sector. She will also share corporate opportunities on Teach For America’s staff. For more information, visit www.teachforamerica.org.

Independent Consultant - LinkedIn 101 (Training Workshop) 2:00 pm - 2:50 pmPresented by Lily H. Li, Independent ConsultantThe prominence of social networking in the recruitment process means a LinkedIn profile has become the default online résumé and by extension, an InMail the first point of contact from a potential employer to an aspirant. Candi-dates seeking to wage an effective campaign to secure employment cannot overlook this social media site, which now ranks as the world’s largest professional network comprising 225 million members. I seek to deconstruct sections of a LinkedIn profile, explaining their significance and uses. On the site itself, individuals can research jobs, people and groups, leveraging these to help members figure out how to brand themselves as well as whom to invite into their network and why, among other things. It is hoped that workshop participants will gain an understanding of the reasons some profiles are selected by headhunters and hiring managers even while others are ignored.
