2. Money, currency and price level
Currency: Bosnia and Herzegovina convertible mark (BAM)
Foreign currency exchange: At the time of
writing this document, the exchange rates were:
1 € =1, 96 BAM 1 $ =1, 81 BAM
Money can be exchanged in banks, exchange
offices and post offices at the current rate of
exchange. The only legal tender in Bosnia and
Herzegovina is the Bosnia and Herzegovina
convertible mark. Shops in Old Town may accept
Euros but be sure to always have some money in
convertible marks with you.

3. About Mostar
Mostar is a city and municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the largest and one of the most
important cities in the Herzegovina region and the center of the Herzegovina-Neretva
Canton of the Federation. Mostar is situated on the Neretva river and is the third-
largest city in the country. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (natively: mostari)
who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over Neretva river. The Old
Bridge is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.

4. How to get to Mostar
4.1 By plane
Mostar International Airport Ltd.
Small airport with regular flights to/from: Zagreb (Croatia) and Istanbul (Turkey). The
town center is 3-4 km away. At the airport, there are bus and taxi services.

Many airlines fly to Sarajevo, Split, Dubrovnik or Zagreb. Upon arrival at the airport, you
can go to the railway or coach stations and catch a train or bus taking you directly to
Mostar.
From Sarajevo
Upon arrival at Sarajevo Airport (for info: www.sarajevo-airport.ba) you have to take a
taxi as there are no public means of transport, in order to reach the bus station that
connects Sarajevo to Mostar, with daily services running every 2 hours. From Sarajevo
railway station, trains leave for Ploče with stop also at Mostar.
4.2 By train

6. What to do before you go to Bosnia?
Inform the organizers about your:
Allergies or medical requirements;
Arrival, departure time and place;
Take care of both medical and travel insurance.
Check if your country has any kind of agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina
Don’t forget your ID card or passport. The policemen will not let
you into our country without documents, even if you are from EU
and, please, take good care of your documents. If you are from EU
you can get in our country with your ID card.

9. Dictionary
Two alphabets are used to write the Bosnian language: a variation of the Cyrillic
alphabet and also variation of the Latin alphabet.
Bosnian orthography is very consistent: approximation of the principle "one letter per
