TOWARDS CLEANER INDIA : PROVIDE CLEAN DRINKING WATER AND

CLEAN SANITATION FACILITY TO ALL

mērī jindagī mērā adhikāra

PROBLEM STATEMENT :

Nearly half the population of our brothers and sisters are now defecating in the open grounds

and nearly less than a quarter of our family members have the access to water. Defecating in

open grounds will lead to spread of diseases like diarrohea. Etc. And walking over 2 hours to

gain just 10 litres of water ……. These all needs a quick solution and once if this changes its

been a satisfactory life to live in a descent scenario..

SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM :

The problem exists from the remote areas of the country where the rate of death being high

due to the diseases spreading from the improper sanitation. People do not have a proper place

for defecating and hence the open lands become the location for that. This will create a

impact on the same people , one day or another. Improper water supply being one of the

causes for the same , it has also to be rectified. A woman running down for twelve miles and

scoring only two or three potsof water is again gives a new look to the sanitation problem via

water supply. The solution given here is solved in the same manner.

Causes of the problem …

The problem may be rooted to various causes……. Are given in the form of a pictorial

representation…

CHALLENGES FACED IN WATER AND SANITATION:

SUSTAINABILITY OF WATER SUPPLY

POTABILITY

ADEQUACY

CONVENIENCE

AFFORDABILITY AND EQUALITY

PROPOSED SOLUTION :

FUNDING

PLAN FOR WATER

SUPPLY

PLAN FOR SANITATION

VOLUNTEERS

DURING ELECTION , EACH CITIZEN WILL BE REQUESTED TO

DEPOSIT RE.1 FOR THIS CAUSE AND ALSO RE.1 WILL BE

DEPOSITED DURING CRICKET MATCHES ETC…

THREE WATER SUPPLY 2 YEAR PLANS WILL BE EXECUTED

EACH HAVING A SPECIFIC TARGET. (IT DEPENDS ON THE

DEMAND OF THE STATES REGARDING THE WATER SUPPLY)

PUBLIC TOILET SYSTEM DEPENDING ON THE DEMANDS WILL BE

MADE AVAILABLE . THE WASTE COLLECTION WILL BE

CONVERTED INTO THE BIOGAS FOR FUEL PRODUCTION

DIFFERENT GROUPS ARE DIVIDED . ONE FOR CREATING PUBLIC

AWARENESS , ONE FOR TAKING THE FUND TO THE STATE OF

EXECUTION.

WATER SUPPLY LAYOUT OF PIPELINE S IN SHORTEST POSSIBLE ALIGNMENT WILL

BE STARTED . TEMPORARILY WATER IS TAKEN BY WATER

TRUCKS TO ALL THE AREAS. BASED ON DEMANDS EITHER TANKS

OR PIPELINES WILL BE CONSTRUCTED.

TEMPORARY SOLUTION

FOR WATER SUPPLY AND

SANITATION

TILL THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE GETS COMPLETED , SMALL

TANKS (LIKE SYNTAX TANKS) WILL BE PROVIDED. THE WATER

WILL BE TAKEN TO THESE TANKS FOR REGULAR INTERVALS

THROUGH TRUCKS. A SMALL AMOUNT OF RE.1 WILL BE

COLLECTED FROM EACH PERSON FOR EACH 5 LITRE OF WATER

OR EACH POT. AND MOBILE TOILETS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE

TO SATISFY THE PEAK NEEDS.

BENIFITS OF SAFE WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION:

RESPECTING HUMAN VALUES

Expanding access to water and sanitation is a moral and ethical imperative rooted in

the cultural and religious traditions of communities around the world. Dignity, equity,

compassion and solidarity are values shared all over the world. Extending REQUIRED water

supply and SANITATION services to poor households would satisfy their needs.

IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY

Safe drinking water and basic sanitation is of crucial importance to the preservation of human

health, especially among children. Water-related diseases are the most common cause of

illness and death among the poor of developing countries. About 1.6 million deaths of

children per year can be attributed to unsafe water, poor sanitation, and lack of hygiene all

around the world.

GENERATING ECONOMIC BENEFITS

When we are investing one rupee on water and sanitation we can get a economic

return of two or three rupees depending on the region.

Women in house can use their available resources (human, animal waste) for

production of bio-gas . This helps in reducing relying on LPG for cooking.

Better services resulting from the relocation of a well or borehole to a site closer to

user communities, the installation of piped water supply in houses, and latrines closer to

home yield significant time savings.

Girls and women have better educational and productive opportunities when they

have water and sanitation facilities nearby, because they can safeguard their privacy in school

and save time fetching water.

The availability of water can be used to start or expand small enterprises and thus

increase disposable household income.

Education on water and sanitation services will tend to invent new and economically

affordable solutions.

IMPROVING LIFE AT ALL AGES

From the age of 0 to 4 years, the cruel toll of child mortality may be reduced.

From the age of 5 to 14 years, far more children, especially girls, could go to school if

they had adequate drinking water and sanitation facilities. It would enable children to escape

from their families' poverty.

From the age of 15 to 59 years, productivity gains would be achieved with improved

water and sanitation facilities.

People older than 60 could expect to live longer.
