Throughout the last 50 years or so the basic buildingblocks of life – air, water and the earth – havebeen systematically subjected to increasing levelsof pollution with little regard to their potentiallydevastating effects on future generations.

Recently however, concern has grown regardingclimate changes, acid rain, water and air pollutionand the constant degradation of Earth’s naturalresources. The very technology that created theseproblems is now being harnessed to halt andreverse them. Depletion of the ozone layer andglobal warming have been highlighted and are nowbeing addressed. Government legislation prohibitingthe use of toxic substances and the generation ofpollutants has slowed down the destruction of theenvironment.

Daikin Europe is proud to have been pro active inthis respect, closely following its Japanese parent inimplementing policies that have often pre-emptedofficial legislative codes and directives. As a result,

a culture of ‘environmental management’ has since2001, played a key role in the company’s day to dayactivities and development strategies.

Top management commitment is reflected in theestablishment of a number of action plans, which arenow strictly observed and implemented throughoutthe Daikin Group.

A number of ‘We Care’ icons are highlighted ingreen throughout the catalogue to indicate productfeatures that have an impact on reducing energyconsumption: Fan only, Night set mode, Economode, Energy efficiency, Movement sensor andHome leave operation.

The RZQ Super Inverter enables Daikin to

offer a complete range (from 7.1 up to

24.1kW single and three phase versions) of

R-410A inverters from the smallest Split to

the largest VRV system.

The Super Inverter Range marks a major step

forward from the earlier R-407C system and

although it incorporates its predecessor’s

innovative features, it also possesses a

number of significant energy saving and

operating improvements of its own.

This system is supported by a full range of

Daikin indoor units, which may be used

as pairs or in twin, triple or double twin

RZQ

Based around Daikin’s well proven reluctance DC compressor motor technology, the RZQ Super Inverter delivershigh energy efficiency particularly in the mid to low settings, minimising annual electricity consumption and overallrunning costs. The system also offers improved EER up to 4.1 and COP up to 4.38.

The application of inverter control saves energy for two basic reasons:It enables compressor speedto vary according to thecooling/heating load andtherefore consumes only thepower necessary to matchthat load.

In partial load conditionsenergy efficiency is higher.

Inverter technology used in the RZQ Super Inverter ensures the highest comfort levels. The automatic controlof room temperature makes that the actual sensed temperature in the room is at pre set level, ensuring it isnever too cool or too hot.

This is a major improvement over standard fixed speed models, which utilise continuous on/off switching of thecompressor, creating greater fluctuations in room temperatures.

Inverter technology offers improved levelsof comfort:

Less frequent start/stop cyclesCapacity is automatically throttled back when setpoint is approachedStart-up time is reduced by 1/3

User comfort is further enhanced by the applicationof predicted mean value (PMV) control. PMV controladdresses the phenomenon whereby a person canfeel hot in summer and cold in winter at exactlythe same room temperature. PMV control sensesoutdoor temperature, as well as occupant andradiated heat levels and then sets and maintainsroom temperature at the most comfortable level.

A. Re-use of existing piping without cleaning*A major installation advantage offered by the new system is its ability to connect to existing R-22 andR-407C piping without the need for pre-cleaning the pipe. This is the result of Daikin’s use of ether basedcompressor oils rather than the more commonly used moisture sensitive ester oils. Existing piping can bere-used subsequent to a simple pump down operation.

A. Low sound pressureReductions in outdoor unit sound pressure levels have beenachieved via:- redesigned fan blades and inlet bell mouth- a high efficiency aero spiral fan with backward curved

blade tips that reduce air turbulence and pressure loss- the redesigned bell mouth air inlet fitted with guide vanes

at the intake that also reduces air turbulence around the blades

Using the latest technology, sound pressure levels down to47 dB(A) in cooling (7.1 kW) are achieved. The sound pressurelevels of RZQ models are therefore up to 3dB(A) lower than thoseof standard fixed speed models.

B. Night quiet function: max. -5dB(A)During night time, sound level of the outdoor unit can be reduced fora certain period by limiting the maximum compressor frequency andfan speed: starting time and ending time can be set.

The night quiet function can be enabled according to end-userpreferences via 2 different modes:

Mode 1: automatic modeSet via the remote control. Time of maximum temperature ismemorized. The low operating mode will become active 8 hours*after the peak temperature in daytime and operation will return tonormal after 10 hours of low noise operation*.

Mode 2: customized modeStarting and ending times can be set by using an external timer control (optional adapter KRP58M51+ field supplied timer switch required for RZQ71-140).
