СВЯТО ПОЧАЇВСЬКОЇ МАТЕРІ БОЖОЇ
В вівторок 23 липня ми святкуватимемо празник
Почаївської Божої Матері. В 7-ій годині вечора в
Соборі Святого Йосафата буде відслужений
молебен, при кінці якого ми вирушимо процесійно до
нашої святині - ікони Почаївської Богородиці. На
молебен запрошуються усі священиків сусідніх парафій.
Після відправи буде перекуска, спонсорована
Апостольством Молитви. ПОТРІБЕН ТРАКТОР
На фестиваль, що відбудеться 24-25 серпня нам
потрібний трактор, який ми змогли б
використати на параді, а також на нашому
фестивалі. Будь ласка, якщо хтось має будь яку

Завдяки нашим жертовним парафіянам ми вже
довгі роки виробляємо і продаємо вареники.

Saints Borys and Hlib
The first saints to be canonized in Kyivan Rus’. The two princes were killed in 1015 by their elder
brother, Prince Sviatopolk I, during the succession struggle following the death of their father,
Volodymyr the Great. Their older brother, Yaroslav the Wise, thereupon presented his struggle for
power with Sviatopolk as a crusade to avenge the fratricide. After he came to power, Yaroslav actively sought
the canonization of the princes, which was finally realized ca 1068. Meanwhile the memory of Borys
Volodymyrovych and Hlib Volodymyrovych had captured the imagination of the Kyivan Rus’ population, in
large measure because of accounts of the calmness and resignation with which they had accepted their deaths.
An account of their murders, Skazaniie i strast’ i pokhvala sviatuiu muchenyku Borysa i Hliba (The Tale and
Passion and Glorification of the Holy Martyrs Borys and Hlib), is one of the oldest monuments of Ukrainian
literature. The two saints have remained popular figures in Ukrainian religious thought. They are
commemorated annually in both the Ukrainian Orthodox church and Ukrainian Catholic church. (On July 24th

One of our beloved cantors, Jaroslaw Zawadiwsky is
celebrating his birthday today, Sunday, July 21st. May
God grant him many blessings and health and
happiness. We celebrate with you and thank you Jerry for
your many years of dedicated service to St. Josaphat Parish.
Mnohaya Lita Jerry! BLESSING OF CARS TODAY
On July 20th we celebrate the Feast of the holy and
glorious prophet Elijah who was taken into heaven on
a fiery chariot (2 Kings 2:1-15). The prophet Elijah is
known as the patron saint of vehicles. In commemoration of
his feast, we will have a Blessing of vehicles following ALL
Divine Liturgies today, Sunday, July 21st. The priest will bless
all cars as they leave the parking lot. REGISTRATION DATE FOR PILGRIMAGE EXTENDED
TO AUGUST 9th!
We have extended registration and payment to Friday, August
9th, 2019 for Pilgrimage to St. Anthony’s Chapel. There are
still some seats left on the bus. Cost for bus trip is $30
including a boxed lunch. Please mail in your registration and
payment to the rectory or call Oksana (216)402-3725. Flyers
with the registration are located on the table in the vestibule.

PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF
OUR LADY OF POCHAIV
All are invited to attend the Pilgrimage in honor of
Our Lady of Pochaiv on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019 at
St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. There
will be a Moleben to the Mother of God at 7:00pm in the
Cathedral followed by a procession to the Shrine.
Refreshments and fellowship afterwards. Come pray with us!

For the festival on August 24 & 25 we need a tractor to
participate in the parade and for hay wagon rides during the
festival.

NATIONAL SHRINE
IN PITTSBURGH, PA! St. Josaphat Cathedral Parish will be having a one day
pilgrimage to St. Anthony’s Chapel National Shrine in
Pittsburgh, PA Saturday, August 17th, 2019 this year. St
Anthony’s Chapel is home to the largest collection of
publicly venerable Christian relics – 5,000 in total – in the
world outside of the Vatican. A bus will be available. For

ST. ANTHONY’S CHAPEL, PITTSBURGH, PA
We have ordered a 47 passenger air conditioned bus to St.
Anthony’s Chapel on Saturday, August 17. The total cost is $30 including a nice boxed lunch.
Registration has been extended to August 9th.. A registration
form can be found on the flyer in the vestibule of our Cathedral
and in our bulletin. Payment can be made by check or cash. You
may mail registration and payment to St. Josaphat Ukrainian
Catholic Cathedral; Attn: Pilgrimage; 5720 State Rd., Parma,
OH 44134 or at the rectory office. The bus will be leaving our Astrodome promptly at 8am and
will return by 6pm. The schedule for the day is as follows:
7:45am board bus at Astrodome; 8am depart St. Josaphat
Cathedral; 10:30am Divine Liturgy; 12pm lunch; 1pm guided
tour of the Chapel; 2:15pm-3:45pm free time to visit their
museum and gift shop; 4pm depart Chapel; 6pm arrive at St.
Josaphat Astrodome. Please join to visit and pray in this beautiful, National Shrine
with over 5000 Catholic relics, the world’s largest collection

Zacchaeus - Bible & Catechism Study Group
St. Josaphat Parish has started a Bible Study and UGCC
Catechism Study Group. Our next meeting will be on
Monday, August 5, 2019 at 6:30pm in the Men’s Club
Room. Participants will read, discuss and learn about Holy
Scripture and the Catechism of our Ukrainian Church. The
group is open to high school students through adults from
any and all parishes in the local area. Archdeacon Jeff will
lead the group.
