This is an award that every-one in the movie businesswants to keep away from it.

By Wang ShengnanA Golden Raspberry Award, or Razz-ie for short, is an award presented inrecognition of the worst in film.Founded by American copywriter andpublicist John J. B. Wilson in 1980,the annual Razzie Awards ceremonyin Los Angeles precedes the corre-sponding Academy Awards ceremonyby one day.

Funnily enough, the Golden RaspberryAward and the Academy Awardnominated the same actors severaltimes .In 2010, Sandra Annette Bul-lock won two kinds of awards at thesame time.

The imaginations of the hu-man brain are inexhaustible.

The Ig (which means laughing) NobelPrizes are an American parody of theNobel Prizes and are given each yearin early October for ten unusual ortrivial achievements in scientific re-search. The stated aim of the prizes isto "honor achievements that firstmake people laugh, and then makethem think." The awards are some-times veiled criticism (or gentlesatire).

In 2013, Alberto Minetti, Yuri Iva-nenko, Germana Cappellini, NadiaDominici, and Francesco Lacquanitigot the price for physics . They dis-covered that some people would bephysically capable of running acrossthe surface of a pond 要 if thosepeople and that pond were on themoon.

The Darwin Awards are atongue-in-cheek honor, originating inUsenet newsgroup discussions circa1985. They recognize individuals whohave contributed to human evolutionby self-selecting themselves out of thegene poolvia death or sterilization bytheir own (unnecessarily foolish) ac-tions. Darwin Award winners elimi-nate themselves in an extraordinarilyidiot ic manner, thereby improving ourspecies' chances of long-term survival."Northcutt has stated five requirementsfor a Darwin Award. First, nomineemust be dead or rendered sterile. Sec-ond, the candidate's foolishness mustbe unique and sensational. A fter living in China for 3years, one place I’d always

wanted to visit was Sichuan. Icame here straight from the North-ern culture of Beijing, and wantedto know what life was like wherethe mountains are tall and the em-peror is far away. In our short 200years of history, my Australia hasbecome very different toEnglish, so I was eager tofind out what happened inSichuan after the mass mi-gration from Hubei andGuangdong some 600 yearsago created a new languageand culture. Sichuan andAustralia have much incommon: both have rela-tively short histories andharsh landscapes, creatingfoul-mouthed and fun-lov-ing peoples.

Before coming here, I wasn’t surewhat it would actually mean to livein a place with so little sun that notonly Sichuan’s pale-faced beautiesfamous throughout China, but thatthere’s an ancient chengyu about it.In Sichuan, the sun is so rare thatdogs bark when they see it!

I arrived last winter late in the af-ternoon found my way here viaQing Yi village. Having grown upin the country, I don’t feel so com-

fortable in cities that are too big sothat’s why I chose Mianyang overChengdu - but was still surprisedhow far away from town andself-contained SWUST is. Finally, Ifound my contact who took me tothe school hotel and scheduled atour to show me around the schoolthe next morning. As it happened, that morning there was a fog so

thick that you couldn’t see yourhand in front of your face. My tourinvolved walking and whiteness, and things like “Over there is alake. If you could see it, you’d see itis shaped like a yinyang.”I wasstarting to get worried that weatherwas always like this, and I’ve haveto spend a year in a hazy, whitebubble.

Luckily, this was just a one off andsun really does exist here. Once therelatively short winter is over and

done with, the world becomes aliveagain and people can be found ev-erywhere outside soaking up thesunshine: playing mahjong andcards, spending time with lovers orany of a hundred different activi-ties - refilling their vitamin D lev-els and overcoming their collective

“seasonal affective disorder”.

Life here is difficult enoughwithout having to be overlyambitious. Here in SWUST,I don’t feel the pressure thatI’ve seen in the face of stu-dents from other schools I’ve worked at. Students herehave more hours of classthan other universities Iknow, but less of a work-load overall. This givesthem more opportunity toengage in hobbies as wellas classwork, and becomemore well-rounded people. I

have seen so many shows put onhere, featuring every kind ofsinging and dancing as well asarts, sports and food-festivals fea-turing Sichuan’s world-famouscuisine.

Students of SWUST, there is somuch to learn that doesn’t comefrom books. If you’re bored it justmeans you need to meet some newpeople and learn something new.

T here was a time when ourdesk was covered with

books, exercise book and note-book every day. Everyday weshuttled in the dorm ,classroomand dining room.namely,it's "threepoint and one line". To be hon-est,we were tired during thattime, but we're very happy, be-cause every day is very substan-tial.

No pain, no gain. When receiveda red University admission notice, we laughed: sweat is not invain in the past.

First met Southwest University ofScience and Technology's beautyis in the old area of theSycamore Road. That summer, Idragged a suitcase walking un-der the trees, the Sun cast shad-ows, smelled the breeze sweetflowers, and listened to a movingstory. Every corner is so nice, al-ways exudes the atmosphere of

dreams. My tour of Southwest U-niversity of Science and Technol-ogy, began to set sail.

Since chose the distance, only tri-als and hardships.

However, the University was notas good as we may think. I wasconfused, unable to find directionin life, just as always, getting upearly, studying , eating, sleeping. Therefore, in every corner of thelibrary with my shadow. I justreads some of my favorite books, but it really is a great enjoyablething, and if we graduate, readingwill become a very luxury thing.

Life is like a journey, the mostbeautiful scenery tends to inad-vertently break into your eyes. Ahelpful volunteer life has broughtme many wonderful memories. There, I encounter a lot of people,a lot of playmates, and find out inthe other half of my life. We

talked about everything, and oftenplay tricks on each other. Al-though met with many difficultiesand setbacks, we still stick to-gether.

Now, I was accustomed to gettingup early, reading books. Early inthe morning, I walked the lake-side of Center lake ,carrying anEnglish book, and chewing itcarefully . breathing the fresh air, smelling the faint smell of grass, watching fishes swimming withease, listening to the birdssinging merrily ... ...how wonder-ful it is!

Time flies, jocosity journey al-ready halfway through ,my goalin life is more and more clear, and my road of life goes easier.Over the next year, I'll still withthe original dream, work hardand enjoy every day of our lives, through the beautiful trip.
