St. Boniface Church welcomes Marilyn Keiser, Chancellor's Professor Emerita of Music (Organ/Sacred Music) Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, and director of music, Trinity Episcopal Church, Bloomington, IN. A native of Springfield, Ill., Marilyn began her organ study at Illinois Wesleyan University earning a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree. She entered the School of Sacred Music at Union Theological Seminary, NYC, graduating summa cum laude in 1965 with a Master of Sacred Music degree and later in 1977 with a Doctor of Sacred Music degree. Upon completion of her master's degree, she became assistant organist at The Riverside Church, NYC. After a year, she was appointed associate organist & choirmaster of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC. In 1970, Marilyn accepted the position of Organist and Director of Music at All Souls Parish in Asheville, NC and Music Consultant for the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. In constant demand as an organ recitalist, Marilyn has appeared throughout the United States in concerts sponsored by churches, colleges and chapters of the American Guild of Organists (AGO). A member of the AGO national council, she was on its national nominating committee & dean of the Western North Carolina chapter. She has given lectures and workshops specializing in music for small churches. She is past president of the Association of Anglican Musicians. In April 2013, she was awarded the American Guild of Organists Distinguished Artist Award. A virtuoso concert organist, she has performed across the United States with orchestras in Detroit, Washington, D.C.; and as featured artist in concerts at Cambridge, Winchester and London, England; as well as in Paris and Brazil. She has performed in National Radio broadcasts throughout the United States. Marilyn has recorded for Loft Recordings and Pro Organo.
