Monoclonal antibodies specific for epitopes found on the B chain of PDGF (including v-sis, c-sis and platelet-derived forms) may be bound to columns and used for purification of rPDGF B. A solution containing a polypeptide poss- essing at least part of the structural conforma- tion of rPDGF B is passed over such a column and the rPDGF B is bound to the antibody. The rPDGF B may then be eluted from the column to yield rPDGF B of greater than 95~ purity as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Chelating compounds of specified N2S2 N3S derived structure are useful for radiolabeling tar- geting molecules such as antibodies. Cleavable ester orthioester linkers connect the radionuclide metal chelates to the antibodies. The radiolabeled antibodies have improved bio- distribution properties, including reduced localization within the intestines and kidneys.

A transgenic mouse with enhanced viral resistance transmissible to its offspring is pre- pared by introduction of a gene encoding a human interferon having antiviral activity into a
367
host mouse. The gene encodes the interferon of a different animal species and therefore its expres- sion product is less toxic to the host at an em- bryonic, fetal, neonatal or junvenile stage of development. Preferably, the human beta inter- feron gene is introduced into the cells of a mouse.

Four monoclonal antibodies are found which selectively identify prostate cancer. These mono- clonals are therefore useful in diagnosis and dif- ferential diagnosis of prostate cancer.
