NATURAL STONE

Most people think that if their natural stone — marble, granite, travertine, slate, etc.— looks bad (i.e. poor

installation, dullness, stains, scratches, chips, cracks, and/or uneven tiles) that they can either choose to live with it or they have to replace it.

When it comes to natural stone, nothing can be further from the truth. Natural stone can be restored to look brand new.

Uneven surfaces can be ground flat. Broken and chipped tiles can often be repaired. Most stains and discolorations can be resolved. Dull uneven finishes can be polished or honed to a uniform consistency.

The stone finish itself can be changed from a high polish to a honed or antique finish or vice versa. Stone and grout can be sealed for its protection.

There are no quick fixes. We never resort to chemical or topical treatments that merely produce a false shine and may damage your stone in the long run.

Marble is versatile. We can not only restore your marble to the beauty of its initial installation—or better—we can also change the finish from a high-polish to a honed or satin finish, or vice versa, if desired.

Marble sometimes needs extra protection. When appropriate, we can apply an impregnating sealer to help guard against staining.

OUR PROCESSWhen it comes to polishing marble properly, there are no quick fixes. Gold Standard Floor Care never resorts to chemical or topical treatments that merely produce a false shine and may damage your stone in the long run.

Much like a jeweler polishes a fine gemstone, we use man-made-diamond encrusted polishing pads, in progressively finer grits, to erase damage and produce the desired level of shine.

GRANITEGranite is one of the hardest surfaces on Earth

If it does become dull, chipped or cracked, you can count on Gold Standard Floor Care to deep-clean,

restore dull surfaces, remove most stains, repair most cracks and chips, and seal and protect, leaving your granite in like-new condition.

About Sealing. Granite countertops should be sealed to inhibit staining agents from penetrating into the pores of the stone. Our sealers are non-toxic and safe for use on food preparation surfaces, so you don’t have to worry.

TIP Want a quick and easy way to tell if your granite countertops need to be re-sealed? Spill a few drops of water on the most used areas. Give it a few seconds before wiping away the water. If a dark spot remains for more than a second or two, indicating that the water was absorbed into the stone, it’s time to reseal.

Travertine is a neutral colored stone with naturally occurring cavities throughout. It comes in different finishes—filled and

unfilled, matte and polished. From time to time holes in your filled travertine may become exposed, allowing dirt to accumulate. Gold Standard Floor Care can repair these holes and make your travertine look new again.

We can also re-hone or polish—even change the finish from honed to polished, or vice versa. We can grind uneven floors to a flat surface, then resurface the floor to the desired finish.

• Spray the walls and floor of the stall with a stone-safe cleaner, then squeegee, after everybody in the home has taken a shower for the day.

• Use a soap film remover specifically formulated to be effective at the job of cleaning soap scum and hard mineral deposits, without negatively interacting with the chemistry of natural stone.

• Clean mildew stains that appear on the grout lines of your shower enclosure with a mildew stain remover that has been formulated to be safe on natural stone, while being very effective at removing mildew and other biological stains.

• Don’t use any regular toi let bowl cleaners if your toilet bowl is placed on a marble or other natural stone floor. They are highly acidic. Possible spills will dig holes in your marble. Clean your bowl with a non-acid toilet bowl cleaner.

GROUT IS USUALLY WHAT GETS DIRTY FIRST

Most tile is grouted using sanded grout, which is porous. Consequently, virtually anything that is spilled on the grout penetrates into the pores and accumulates, leaving you with dirty and unsanitary floors, no matter how often or how hard you try to clean them.

Gold Standard Floor Care can deep-clean your tile and grout, then seal your grout with the highest quality sealer available to leave you with a clean and fresh look that is much easier to maintain.

NEWLY INSTALLED FLOOR?A new stone or tile floor may have a slight film due to dust settling from construction or an inadequate cleanup of the grout residue. Although it is ideal that excess grout be removed before it has a chance to dry—within 24 hours for cement grout and one hour for epoxy grouts—even if it is not cleaned up within this time frame, we are experienced in cleaning this “grout haze” and can leave you with the sparkling new floor you were hoping for.

Upon our return, the result despite all the guarantees and promises was breath taking!
