This diagnostic is typically check for regen temperature out of range low.1. Check for multiple fault codes.

    a. If SPN 4077/ FMI 0 or SPN 3480 / FMI 1 is also present, repair those faults first.b. If the above faults are not present, Go to step 2.

    2. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety steps.3. Visually inspect exhaust system for leaks, including aftertreatment device (ATD) V-band clamps.

    a. If leaks are found, repair as necessary. Go to step 12.b. If no exhaust leaks are found, Go to step 4.

    4. Start engine and run for three minutes at 1200 rpm. Are all ATS temperatures within 7.2ºC (45ºF) of each other?a. No; Go to step 5.b. Yes; Go to step 6.

    5. Disconnect the temperature sensor harness that was not within 7.2ºC (45ºF) and inspect the harness for bent, spread orcorroded pins.

    a. If pin damage is found, repair as necessary. Go to step 12.b. If no pin damage is found, then replace the sensor and Go to step 12.

    6. Initialize a high idle regen. Using the chart tab in DDDL/DDRS 7.x or higher, monitor DOC outlet temp and DOC ModelDelay. Is there a difference greater than +/- 37.8ºC (100ºF) in the last 2/3 of the regen?

    a. Yes; Go to step 7.b. No; retain the log file and contact the Customer Support Center for further instruction.

    7. During above high idle regen, monitor doser fuel line pressure when fuel cutoff valve is 100%. Is the doser fuel linepressure above 40 psi?

    a. Yes; Go to step 8.b. No; replace the HC doser block assembly. Refer to section "Removal of the Hydrocarbon Doser Block Assembly"

and then Go to step 10.

  • 8. Inspect fuel line from the doser block assembly to the doser injection valve for kinks. Are there any kinks?a. Yes; replace the line. Go to step 12.b. No; Go to step 9.

    9. Remove the doser injection valve and coolant block from turbo outlet and inspect for carbon buildup at the exhaust pipe.Is carbon present?

    a. Yes; remove excess carbon and replace the doser injector valve. Go to step 12.b. No; clear the fuel line with air and replace the doser injector valve and Go to step 12.

    10. Start the engine.

NOTE: It may take up to three purge attempts to completely remove air from the system. Do not exceed threeattempts. Go to step 12.

    11. Using DDDL/DDRS 7.x or higher, perform a purge hydrocarbon doser service routine.12. Initialize a high idle regen. Using the chart tab in DDDL/DDRS 7.x or higher, monitor DOC outlet temp and DOC Model

Delay. Is there a difference of +/- 37.8 ºC (100 ºF) in the last 2/3 of the regen?a. Yes; restart troubleshooting. Go to step 1.b. No; verify operation is satisfactory and no warning lamps illuminate. If warning lamps illuminate, troubleshoot the

codes. If assistance is required, contact the Detroit Diesel Customer Support Center at 313-592-5800 . Release thetruck.
