    Ramadan. (4) The Zakat (this is a kind of poor-rate and alsoa rate for the communitys benefit and a charityto help any good cause. This is a 2 1/2 per centtax on one's yearly earnings, or more if possible).

    (5) The Hajj, or the pilgrimage to Mecca at acertain time of the year. For this pilgrimage youhave to be in Mecca before 7th day of the 12thmonth of the Muslim year and stay there until the11th day of the same month. A visit to the Kabahat Mecca at any other time is called 'Umrah',

    which means 'the minor pilgrimage'.

    We needed a last prophet, which is Muhammad,because the Divine message many other prophetsbrought has been altered and misunderstood. Weneeded a last book because this, the Quran, is theonly book that has not been altered and will not andcannot be altered, as millions of Muslims know it by

    heart, whereas other holy books have been altered.If all copies of the Quran (which Allah forbid!) wereburnt, the very next moment the Quran would springto live again from the million who know it by heart.So you can see, there is no chance of this book, theQuran, being lost or altered.

This man has a heart; he feels a happyto be going to call others to come and praise God. Butthat bell is just a piece of metal. It has no emotion. Thefollowing call is heard from the mosques and Muslim

    places of worship all over the world: Allah is Great! Allahis Great! I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. Ibear witness that Muhammad of Allah. Come to prayers!Come to prayers! Come to success! Come to success!Allah is Great! There is no god but Allah. When callingMuslims for the dawn prayer, these words are added atthe end of the call: Prayer is better than sleep.

    heaven. As I said before, a baby is sinlessand always goes to heaven, prayer or noprayer. But we like to let the sound of thecall to prayers reach a baby ear.

    QUESTION 40:

    What does a Muslim do before he says his prayers?

    A Muslim washes himself, and this is what he does: If he is clean anddoes not need a bath, then he starts with washing the right hand andup to the wrist three times. Then he washes the left hand three times,

    followed by rinsing the mouth three times, preferably brushing theteeth before rinsing the mouth. The he should clean his nose bysniffing water up three times. This is to be followed by washing theface three times and arms up to the elbows three times, first the rightarm and then the left. After this he should pass his wet hands overthe head, starting from the front with the inside of the wet hands,passing down to the back of the neck (using the inside of thehands). He should now turn his hands over and use the back ofthem, wiping the neck all around the back and the back of the earswith the thumbs from the lobe of the ear upwards. He should then putthe forefinger of each hand into each ear and work the finger aroundthe grooves of the ears. Last of all, he should wash his feet up to theankles three times, first the right foot and then the left. The Arabicword for this washing process is Wudhu.

    Yes, some part of it. But if he is ill, he can say hisprayers in any position best suitable to himself. But

    if he is strong and healthy, the he has to follow aset form of postures. A Muslim starts his prayersstanding, and then he kneels, bows down andplaces his forehead right on to the ground so thatthe nose also touches it. No position is too humblewhen one is before God. In our prayers we stand,

    kneel, and place our foreheads touching the groundmany times. I have given you already a detaileddescription of how to pray.

A Muslim doesnot believe that Allah rested on the seventhday, because our Holy Book says: Allah is Hebesides whom there is no god....sleep doesnot overtake him ... His knowledge extendsover the heavens and the earth, and the

    preservation of them both tires Him not.
